Hello not sure where to put this question as there doesn't appear to be a roofing section but it relates to a small 2"inch hole I noticed on my GRP flat roof .It ends in a ridge that runs right round the edge and the hole is situated on one side .I have no idea how it got there except maybe the window cleaner might have done it whilst climbing onto the roof I always though glass fibre was pretty much bomb proof but there is clearly a gap on the underside hence the ridge. Some rain water has gone in although I dont know to what extent. The ceiling inside is not showing any signs of water penetration as yet but I guess the sterling board maybe holding that. i am now wondering what to do about it .I stuck a piece of lead flashing over the hole held by some silicon as a temporary measure , but i am looking for something more permanent .Any idea? thanks

Fibreglass can be patched easily. Its one of the big plusses. Clean the area with acetone apply some resin and glass matting, then some gel coat. 30 minute job. Only issue is getting a small amount of all the materials. Might work out cheaper to get someone in as materials will be basically free for them.

presumably one could also use that glass fibre kit used on cars as well
