Hi All, Newbie Here in midst of extension

The shower Glass is also now fitted and ill take photos of the bathroom once the tiling is complete. next will be to grout it all and then start fitting the furniture etc.

Once the bathroom is virtually complete, I can finally knock through. Cant do it just yet as where we are knocking though is the current bathroom and the toilet sits again the wall :)

Tomorrow, we are laying the screed floor in the rear extension and as from the start of the thread I've photographed most of it, I also set up the go pro in time-lapse mode which Ill do to capture laying the screed.

Ive already time lapsed,
The very first day I started, ripping up the original patio and decking, etc
Exposing the waste and swear pipes which were all renewed
Removing the original garage roof,
Putting in the rear UC for above the bifold
Rear roof being laid.

Hopefully I'll put a short movie together at the end of the project :)

Ok so back at it today, as I said only get work on the house about 8 days of the month sometimes a little more and having arrived back from work last night, cracked on with it today.

First off was to put a plasterboard up in the garage as the sparkies are coming on Monday to fit a fuse board so needed to get it ready, I'll be plastering it over the next day or so.

Then we started to remove the original kitchen door as I'd ordered a new one to be fitted...



The fitters turned up on time and were quick to work and setting out the height as requested as the current floor has to com up another 30-40mm

As promised, a couple of pics of the tiled bathroom wall...

this was pre-grouting which has now been completed




And here's the recessed shower, tray size is 1400 x 900 stone resin and the glass in the opening is just a deflector pane that is hinged

All the panels are glass and apart from the end panel they are white with a silver fleck

Update as of 10/02/16

I've taken a load of new photos that I was going to upload but with time constraints I'm now back at work and haven't as yet done it.

Anyhow, updates to follow with pics are...
Rear extension underfloonheating insulation boards and mats fitted, then covered with ultra levelit 2, it went off overnight and I recommend anyone to use it but ShopAround as prices vary considerably for it.

I started to fit the Bathroom shower accessories, a Mira platinum dual ceiling fed version

I've only fitted the support brackets for the hand held shower head and fed the pipe work into the loft for the time being as I'll need to get in the loft to fit the control unit later so will do all the jobs in the loft in one go instead of bits & bobs.

Started fitting the bathroom furniture as thankfully all my calcuLations were pretty good :) and the fit is very good.

I shall continue with the bathroom when I'm back from work, mainly because the floor tiles for the rear extension are a 4-6week delivery.
I've already put a deposit down on the new dining table and chairs which are also 4+ week delivery so I'm praying the timing works out ok.
I think the rear extension will be compete and usuable before anything else which should work well for us.

So, thanks again for reading, photo updates will be complete next week :mrgreen:
 
Oh, nearly forgot..

The main opening door on the bifolds had dropped and was catching on the frame, the company were contacted and to be fair to them, they had arranged to come fix the problem within a few days and true to their word, they did.
Good service considering the many horror stories out there about bifold after sales service :)

A word of warning, I have exactly the same shower as you. I had a problem with it, and because I fitted the pump in the loft Mira absolutely refused to do any work on it because it was deemed as being in an inaccessible place :( Really annoying given the price of it!

Any advice on fitting location for the pump in view of your experience? I've not as yet fitted it but felt best place for it being a ceiling fed is above it in the loft.
Seems very arrogant of MIRA to state that given its design.

Update as promised

Ill try to do this in order too :D

So prior to having the new consumer unit fitted I had to put a plasterboard up and get it skimmed so as to make it easier than trying to later. I put a stop bead either side so it makes it easier to plaster up to as Im going to plaster the whole garage.



and a few days later....



Ready for the electricians to do the big move..
 
I also got a first coat of paint on the ceiling, its one I bought from screw fix and you can paint directly onto new plaster. It had been dry for a couple of weeks anyway, s wasn't too worried about applying it

 
Whilst I had been away, my father popped over and covered the screed floor with a coat of seal/PVA whatever its called, I've forgotten and it was about a week before I go back home and cracked on laying the 10mm insulation boards.





They were left to go off for a couple of days before the joints were all tape sealed and I started to lay out the electric matting.

 
Once it was all taped down the levelling compound was next.

I didn't fancy laying tiles straight on top of the matting., it can be done but its much harder and time consuming and besides.... the tiles are not due for delivery for 4+ weeks

The Ultra Levelit 2 compound is great stuff, smells like rotten eggs though but takes just a few hours to set albeit I left it overnight before even attempting to walk on it

 
Before leaving for work again we set about fitting the wall brackets and bathroom furniture to get an idea finally of how its going to look.



The finish is called washed oak and none of it has been fixed as there's a lot of adjustment to do and we need to fit the bath, toilet etc

Its all purchased from a local bathroom company who have been nothing but helpful and continued to do so.
 
So back home last night and back to it today.

One job I was dreading is cutting through the tiles to create wholes for all the waste pipework to go through, 2 40mm holes for the bath and sink and a 110mm+ hole for the toilet foul pipe.



Very time consuming

We have also started to put the bath together and locate it ready to start sorting out all the pipework ready for the plumber to just come along and connect up the water.

So, Thats me pretty much up to date

The tiles are a couple of weeks away from being delivered as yet so the rear extension will probably get painted and Ill start building a wardrobe/shelving in the new bedroom
