I've recently installed a Visonic powermaster 30, I ordered the powerlink 3 to match, I'm a little confused over whether I have to use the monitoring station for alarm alerts or is it possible for me to receive activation alerts etc via email without having to subscribe to visonics monitoring service. Is there any third party software where I can pay a one off fee and use there app to receive all the alarm communication.

I've searched through the visonic website and numerous posts and still very hazy over the subject. I'd be grateful for any advice or links to show exactly what my options are.

I went on training for this some time ago, pre release and I found it crazy that they were putting cameras on but had to go through the monitoring station. The installation manual I just checked is very clear on Private users and the panels capabilities and the monitoring station for emails of the pictures.

Hi, vi sonic have just released cloud software that allows the end user to do own remote monitoring without needing an ARC.......

Thank you, that's really helpful and good news for powermaster owners. I had a google and no info on the cloud software at the moment, so probably down to the fact it's a new release from visonic. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Crocodile

Have you made any progress on this, I've got the powermaster 33 with the powerlink 3 module. The alarm itself is working fine but I cant seem to get the web page up. I'm getting a ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED message on my browser.

Hello Tom37,
I worry you won't be able to connect to powerlink 3 web page; from my understanding, visonic Powermaster/Powerlink is only supposed to be accessed through a security monitoring station/service, which can be quite expensive; I suppose few companies can provide it for free once you buy the system, you can ask where you have bought it.

Monitoring station will provide you a web site, that presents you information received from the Powerlink, remote cameras, allarm on/off, etc; I suspect most will think that this is crazy, forcing home owners to have an expensive subscription for a such basic functionality, but that's it.

Regarding Crocodile suggestion, maybe they were referring to a new product called "Powermaster-360", which did appeared on Visonic web site few time ago; it is a home gateway which integrates power-g with zwave devices, and it is supposed from a cloud based interface; no more info on the website until today, so I cannot say if this new device will cost a fortune, and if it will also require a costly subscription or will come free.

So who pays the ARC for this service then, me? The alarm system owner pays for this, always has, always will.

What makes you think it will be free?

Do you have any idea what an ARC (Central Station / Monitoring Station) costs to build, equip and run, no.

Any 'extra' facility after the alarm makes its noise will be chargeable.

Hello Europlex,
maybe someone can build a different business case, offering basic services for free and enhanced (operator based monitoring, guards, etc) for a fee; the freemium model is quite successful nowadays, isn't it?
Not direct knowledge, but have a look here;
http://www.protexus.se/PowerMaster-10.htm

Charging a costly fee for just receiving photo and app access, is non-sense for many, who can eventually look elsewhere; and even I understand that operating ARC is costly, I suspect that having to pay a fee for basic functionalities take away a lot of people (maybe if the Powermaster could be self operated by home owners, without need to go through ARC, it would have been much more successful).

Ive looked at this myself and there is a company on line offering a connection for £36 a year, I know its not free but pretty good value.

That is a good value, can you provide a link?

That is a good value, can you provide the link for that?

Hi all, just joined this forum, hello all..

I can say the above link is correct, I buy a lot from A.C.T. and find them very very helpful and understanding with the tech help and really everything. I have a couple of Visonics PM30's in operation and their assistance was just fantastic as is the kit they sell and with regards to the self monitoring of PM30's, I have one system currently broad banded with x2 pir cams to try the plink3 and although basic pics and quality, you can see if its a perp or a false alarm quite clearly day or night..

Access is easy and once the powerlink3 is setup you can access via the pc/ laptop by a www HTTP or on tablet and phone by their app( google store, free) ... its a few clicks and you can arm / disarm , view VOD (video on demand) cameras with ease.Granted basic functions on/ off and a look see, but you see see the full log of events, sadly to be notified instantly, the phone must be on data connection via the web, so no direct alerts unless email set up, gsm can do the same and you get texts, but still in learning mode so need to check the setup if this is 100% correct.

On that point you can have the broadband set up 1st response route, gsm 2nd and pstn as 3rd so 3 ways to get your attention.

The service provided by http://securitytradesuppliers.com or A.C.T. can only get better once Visonics get their kit more accessible.

Note, For those wanting to use Plink3, earlier versions below v17 will not accept the new powerlink3 modules, you do need a newer model panel (currently v18 i think) to accommodate the plink3 with ease, or see their techies and they can assist more with older version PM30's and 10's.

I look forward to trying to link the PM30 via one of the internal sounders ( use a small relay I think) to trigger a smoke/fogger unit in a joiners shop soon...using fog/ smoke is the ultimate combined with a Inferno internal security sounder by klaxon makes for a trembling blind intruder!)

New powermaster user, I too am interested in this. It seems rather pointless decryping their log messages with IP access via a local AP/router. Seemed to make sense to use that
to collate log files, interrogate. Perhaps even monitor real-time for alarms and send email.

I think Visonic are missing a trick here too.

Edit: I'm curious why they didn't add a cheap USB port and make use of low cost usb wifi devices. Seems a bit NIH?
