Hi.... I need to change my shower room double glazing unit ( seal gone ) but it is above my conservatory. I was going to hire some box scaffolding to get to it because the beadings are on the outside. I have noticed the window is on egress hinges, would it be a hard job to unscrew the hinges and take the whole unit out from the inside ( the window is only 600 x 300 mm ) I've never had anything to do with egress hinges before wondered if it a straight forward job to just unscrew and screw back in.
cheers

Shouldn't be a problem. I would recommend having someone with you to hold the sash while your unscrewing it and don't over tighten the screws when you put them back in.

Egress or standard friction hinges are the same in terms of changing, leaving the glass in makes it a bit harder due to weight so a second pair of hands will help. I would question though why it has egress hinges as its too small for a fire escape and 600 wide and 300 tall is a weird size for top hung egress hinges

I may be a bit confused as to the type of hinge, I would call it a concertina hinge, I got the egress name from the internet, but it's definitely not a fire escape window.:)
