Hi

Just had an expensive kitchen put over some tiling I done myself.

The tiles are wickes black/grey porcelain but not polished and the grout was mapei black.

Basically the tiles look shockingly washed out and the grout ranges from light grey to nearly black. It only looks decent when it's wet!

Any suggestions for a sealer or wet look liquid to keep it looking jet black? Needs to be permanent really but doesn't need to necessarily seal.

Many thanks!

Very similar to a thread that we've just been advising on. although luckily, yours sound like it may be easier to fix.

Patchy grout - most common cause is too much water in the mix so you have excess sulphates rising to the surface. The tiles also sound like they have a grout haze on the surface.

You would need to give them a good scrub with LTP Grout Stain Remover first. Quite easy, apply - scrub - leave 15 mins - scrub - rinse - repeat if required. This will fix the haze but its hard to tell whether it will fully fix the grout joints.

The polish you want to use will be the LTP Glaze protector. This will give the tiles a wet look, deepen the colour of the tiles and the grout, and seal the grout at the same time.

Which Mapei grout range did you use and are you able to post any images up?
