I sourced a standard three pin plug kitchen plinth heater off ebay, which I cleaned up and fitted and was working absolutely fine, for about a year. Just to take the chill off the air first thing in the mornings. Now, it's stopped kicking out hot air, and is barely doing more than circulating lukewarm at best. Question is, is the built in thermostat DIY obtainable/serviceable/replaceable or shall I just ditch it and get another?

If it doesn't blow any hot air at any time, there's a good chance that the element - or one side of it - has called it a day.

I see. Bearing in mind I can get an equivalent replacement for about £60, is it even worth considering being serviced or repaired?

I'd say probably not. Even if spares are obtainable, it's probably only a matter of time before something else goes. Myself I'd go for the (presumably) new unit at £60.

If you consider the time/money it will take to obtain the part and repair the unit. I would personally replace for new and they generally come with a 2 year warranty.
I would choose a Smiths space savers over Dimplex, but they would likely be more expensive.
