Texecom help

What a headache. Guessing by what both of you have said the guy who installed it should have known better.

In the meantime, is there a way to disable devices completely without unplugging them? Don't need all these PIRs and one of the keypads on with how we use it at the moment.

The add-on modules in the enclosure should also be mounted on adhesive or fixed stand-offs. Looks like a short circuit just waiting to happen with them laying loose like that.

Just looking at the picture of your panel, I would advise tightening the Pos Battery Terminal Connection. The one seen is not doing the job, could be causing problems though.

What about the other 20 then, don't they deserve one, or two?

Seriously a security company fitted this?

Without looking at all your devices, a quick and simple guide is panel plus two expander, then a PSU for every two expanders.

Now obviously it does depend on what is connected to it to your final config, but they should have worked all this out before quoting.

2 comip's I can think of a few possibilities.

1 for notifications
1 for connecting to the panel

or home automation.

Sorry not been able to check the site last few days. Thanks for the responses.

Yes unfortunately this wasn't a security company that installed this - it was a home automation company who turns out didn't know much about home automation either... Has left me in a bit of a mess.

Both of the IP modules are plugged straight in to my switch. They are labelled "alarm panel" and "alarm C4 Coms" (C4 = Control4, the home automation system).

I have 4 expanders so it looks like just one more PSU? Looking at the pictures on the web it looks like to be the same size as the panel box which is going to be difficult to place. Anyone removed the PSU from the PSU box and put it in the panel box where the mains is already fed to? Obviously given this information I'm assuming ideally I'd need some more batteries too which is another issue.

In the meantime, is there any way to disable devices from Wintex or do they need to be disconnected physically to cut the power usage? I can probably turn off 2 keypads, and a few of the PIRs.

Thanks

So with your help I installed a new power supply and not had any problems since. Current in Wintex shows 0.90A instead of ~1.25A when alarm is disarmed.

For the benefit of anyone else who ends up doing this themselves on the forum, to add a new PSU to an existing system with several expanders is fairly straightforward. Obviously messing around with mains is not safe unless you know what you are doing, and are sure all the relevant circuits are off before you do any work.

I did the following:

1. Bought a new PSU200 and battery. This PSU does not come with an expander built in, so you need to run a cable to one of the 8XPs in the chain.
2. The cable to connect the PSU to the expander needs to be made up using Molex 5-way connectors (part CN01236), crimps (part CN09629) and if you need a crimp tool (Molex 63811-1000) - CPC sells all this stuff. Using standard alarm cable I made one up that was around 1.5m long. Note don't just wire each connector up the same way - two of the wires swap over (blue and yellow):

3. Disconnect the Network in + in to the expander, and plug the above cable in to this expander

I think you can connect the PSU without using the com port, but making the extended cable seemed the easiest route for me.

Thanks

To monitor the PSU of the PSU200 (no expander) or psu200XP(expander) you can use the fly lead/ make one up or use resistors and the expanders auxiliary input easiest way is with the lead.

One end Red, Empty Black,Blue Yellow, other End Red empty Black Yellow Blue.

just look at the short cable provided and copy it.
