France - Tempo Electricity Tariff Exploitation

Friend's bungalow in France, wired by us but signed off properly & connected - no problems.
We have a little gizmo, plugged into a mains socket that receives a signal each day (about 20:00) that says what the electricity tariff will be in the next day. The gizmo shows this as one of a set of coloured leds. It also shows today's tariff in the same way. Presumably, EDF is sending a pulse or signal down the wires that activates the gizmo. I think the tariff/system is called Tempo. Reports indicate huge savings for folks that use this intelligently, since the tariffs for the different bands range from E 0.04 to E40.0 - (Just a guess, but a huge 10 times-ish swing).

Is there an electronic box that could be fitted instead of EDF's little indicator that could be used to switch on heavy power usage kit - immersion heaters or washing machines, for example.

Yes, that will be EDF's Option Tempo, which provides for six different rates: Blue, white, and red days with day and night rates (heures pleines & heures creuses respectively for each. Most of the year is the cheapest blue days, with up to 43 white days and 22 red days per year. Here's a summary of the scheme (click on the details tab for actual per-unit rates):

There are certainly devices which monitor and provide separate signaling of the various tariffs for control. Here's one I found with a quick search:

Coupled with a more heavy power relay, (the meagre 3A switch on the Climel EN114), can be linked to provide a
useful bit of kit to power a 3kw immersion heater used to heat a very large tank which in turn provides a low temp feed to stop a holiday home getting damp
in Winter by means of its underfloor pipes. Maplins power relays are v inexpensive!

Now I need to put together a box, fed by the heavy duty supply that only comes on when the tariff is v low. Not exactly rocket-science but, as ever, ideas very welcome
