Tiling Sand Stone Tiles on Plasterboard

I've created a 3m2 stud wall with C16 stud work timber. It's a cavity wall for TV audio visual system. I have sandstone tiles that are 600x150mm and weighs abut 3.8KG per tile so seems much heavier compared to normal tiles that I usually attach. That will make it over 40KG per m2.

Trying to figure out what material to use. It's a dry area without any moisture, initially was thinking to use Gypsum 12.5mm thick Gyproc Square Edge Plasterboard. Not sure if this plasterboard is going to be able to handle this. Can anyone make any suggestions please? The adhesive i've got is the Wickes Extra Strong Wall Tile Adhesive 10L

Anyone have any experience with that? it claims to be able to hold 100kg per m2

Plasterboard is unsuitable. The cement Hardiebacker board can be used.

'Tile Adhesive 10L' presumably means a premixed tub of goo - not suitable either.
A cement based adhesive should be used (supplied in a bag as a powder), preferably a white one to avoid the possibility of staining the stone .

Thanks, I will go with the hardiebacker boards. Can dywall screws be used to attach the board to the timber stud? Also, how do you cut them, is it same as normal.plasterboard with knife and snap method?

Although drywall screws would probably work, it's a question of whether the cement would react with them. If not then you have saved a few quid. If they do, then it's total replacement of the whole job at some point in the future.
Boards are score and snap, however they are much harder than plasterboard so will blunt blades very quickly.
The screws must be put in with a powered driver, and you need to put plenty of weight behind them when driving, unlike plasterboard.

Haven't used that particular adhesive but it is the correct type. Note that it is rapid set so working time is far less than with other types of adhesive.
