The toxic waste soil pipe in our attic space has been pointed back in to our attic space rather than out of the roof. The pipe is connected to our en suite toilet.

This has caused mold, dampness and more importantly caused my wife and I to suffer from headaches. It looks like the pipe when it was installed was not long enough to each out of the room and no ducting was added to it so it just now points back in to our bedroom as the builder couldn't be bothered to finish the job. We have only just discovered this after living in house for 5 years.

Do you know what the rules and regulations are regarding the mis installing of a soil waste pipe?

Many thanks
Paul

Thanks for that. Would installing a soil pipe in this manner with it pointed back in to the attic space on top of our bedroom be a case of professional negligence as this appears to have caused health side affects for myself and my wife? I'm not sure of the building regulation around the installation of soil waste pipes.

You'll be hard pressed to prove if it was left that five years ago. Just fix it and move on.

It might whiff a bit but not sure why it would cause mould or dampness. The builder could just claim that they fitted an AAV originally and you removed it. As it's very easy to sort I'd just get on with it and resolve it. If you don't fix this quickly when the fix is that simple then it's obviously not that bigger issue for you.

I think they'd argue you would have spotted it before 5 years have gone by!

It may well be that some other cause has produced the mould, dampness and headaches and endeavouring to prove the foul smell emitting from a sewer vent could keep a QC supplied with his/her favourite tipple for quite a long time.

And that's not Q C Sherry:whistle:

New Air Admittance Valve on top and its sorted. Just pushes on. If there is mould in the loft you need to check what ventilation you have.
