I'm in the process of drawing plans for an extension. I'm sure I read somewhere that the distance to boundaries should be marked on one of the plans? I've checked a few applications online and can't see any distance to boundaries on them. Should I be doing this and if so on which one?

Also on my elevations plans, should I be marking any heights? Drawings are to scale anyway.

I'll upload some photos for criticism soon. thanks

If it's for a planning application, it's usual to show the distance to adjacent boundaries, if only so that the planning officer can check that it complies with any local policy.
For Building Regulations, it may also be necessary to show the distance to an adjacent boundary if, for example, there is a large area of glazing
as this influences fire-spread.

It's not a statutory obligation - as long as they are to scale it's fine, unless you just want to make the planning officers job very easy. I don't personally see many with that sort of annotation on.

Ditto above. That's why you have a plan that you can scale from.

The problem with dimensioning plans for planning purposes, is that it could potentially commit you to those dimensions. Whereas not dimensioning leaves some ambiguity - which is to the applicants advantage.

Especially when the plans state implicitly "Do not scale from these plans".

It's different for construction drawings.
