Need a new battery for daughters car, Fiat 500 which has a stop start facility, was given a price for a new battery of £78 but was told it will need to go onto a diagnostic machine before the battery can be fitted? Is this correct, seems a little strange to me?

Thanks

sounds like they want to test that the car is charging and stop/starting properly, so your flat battery is not due to an electrical fault in the car.

Unfortunately it can be necessary to code the battery to the car these days.....but don't ask me why  The Audi Q series has needed this for nigh on 8 years now.

Ive heard certain cars need to have some values reset on replacement but dont know the truth in it.
I replaced the stop/start battery in our 2010 Audi A3 about a year ago and didnt reset anything, its been fine since.
It was the exact same make/ah rating as the old one though.
