You might find that getting a chrome straight through trap like yours is pretty difficult. Can't say I've ever seen one. Just trying to understand what trap you plan to use and how you plan to fit it all.

I've had a brief look and I can't find one, is there anything I should be looking for in particular? Like search terms or anything else?

Apologies for not knowing anything about this. Even other houses that are the same style on the development aren't in to the floor.

Nope, as mentioned, I haven't ever seen one, therefore you cannot emulate the straight down nature of your current waste pipe setup. If your other half still wants a floating basin then it may need a re-pipe.

New build houses on developments like yours are thrown together in the shortest possible time for the lowest possible price, by low-skilled low-paid workers. If you're expecting quality workmanship you're going to be very disappointed

as for piprwork do it have isolation and drain off points? if not its not to nhbc spec and against water board recommendations.

Can that trap be removed for cleaning ?
It has a cleaning eye on the top of the trap that allows a wire hook to be used to loosen up any debris and then flush it with HW.

If needing to be removed then there may be a few mill play on the bottom pipe and if not then if the plumber was experienced he will have left a few mill gap on the bottom pipe to allow the trap to drop a little when loosened off the basin waste.

Then wow... I am experienced, as I did that for my cloak room basin.

Either that or you realised you couldn't get the trap on without doing this....it'll always come off, there's no way of attaching it without also making it detachable

Take basin out and fit the new one, alter H&C to suite, cut waste low, cut plasterboard away and re-route waste into the gap (if you're lucky its a stud wall) use a bottle trap with chrome going into wall, then down to drain. Make a box skirting to hide bottom elbow. Then replaster and paint.
And to all the generalisers saying its low pay/low skill on newbuild, kiss my big fat hairy rse.
