Patching render on 1930s bungalow - Advice needed.

Thanks for the speedy reply. What's the best way to remove the algae? Is it ok to pressure wash it off on a concrete wall... the wall won't absorb the water? So clean surface, wet surface, scratch coat, top coat? Next question: Can I then use masonry paint on it, or will that prevent it...

Patching render on 1930s bungalow - Advice needed.

Hi all, I need to make some repairs to the render of the external walls of my 1930's bungalow. Repairs especially need to be made where double glazing was installed 3 years ago. I think the top coat is snowcrete(?) and the walls are concrete (with bits of flint and brick). I may be wrong...

    retiling and refelting cost?

I'm not sure of the actual roof size, but the bungalow is approx 25ft x25ft. It is a square shape. Two pitched roofs with a flat strip in the middle. I've got no idea about tile types unfortunately.. I had no idea there were so many types until now... its not slate or anything like that. The...

    retiling and refelting cost?

Hello, I have a 1930s 2 bedroom bungalow, with two pitched roofs separated in the middle by a strip of flat roof. I've been getting bad damp patches on the ceilings of most rooms. Had the roof looked at by a roofing company who said that there's no point repairing it because its beyond that...

converting tile steps into concrete steps

Hi guys, I've got some old steps in my garden that I want to renovate. I'd like to have concrete steps, then possibly lay slabs on top later. I'm not entirely sure what the old steps are made from, it looks like lots of concrete(?) tiles or roof tiles cemented together like a big sandwich...

    Backfilling outside drain

Pipes are not really bedded on anything, there is some hardcore etc in the hole at the moment. I know this probably sounds stupid to you, but when I put shingle in the hole, how much do I put in? Fill the entire hole up? Do I need to support the shingle so it stays around the pipes and...

    Backfilling outside drain

Yes, the building control guy came round and was happy with the work. Just not sure how to cover all the pipework over. I had a look on the net and read that you need 100mm of pea shingle round the pipes, but is that round the horizontal pipes, or the bit of the vertical pipe thats in the ground...

    Backfilling outside drain

Hi guys, first post so go easy :) I've just had my plumbers fit all the plastic drain pipes etc outside my bungalow. They said its all working, all I need to do is backfill the hole that the pipes go into. I've been told I need to use pea shingle.. how exactly do I go about filling the hole...
