Hi was it the same programmer as before? if not maybe the old programer was hot water priority so you could only have the heating on when the hot water was on.if that was the case the you will need to change the wiring to make them independant.

Hi you can use 0.75mm if its for controls like the room stat.and it shouldnt need to be heat resistant.
