Email program instead of Outlook Express

I don't use an email program - I just access via the web (Googlemail) This has many advantages ...... The main one being you don't have to send out "I'm changing my email address - as from (date) my new address will be XYZ etc.." when you change providers My Gmail address has remained...

Wiring into a pull light switch ..... too many wires ???

Hi All, I need some help. I'm fitting some low-voltage downlighters into a wardrobe. I've run a supply from a switched socket (so I can easily isolate it) and have the base plate of the pull-switch fitted to the ceilling ready for wiring. But despite the instructions (MK) it doesn't seem...

    What van do you use?

I too have a Toyota Hilux, bought second (or third) hand for just over £2k. Plenty of power for towing, 2wheel drive for day-t-day economy and 4X4 when you need it. Ultra reliable, starts instantly - fitted with two 540 amp-hour batts so there's plenty of power even on icy cold mornings...

£50 billion bail out for banks

Its on a lot of the news sites, and has been for the last 2 hours, that Gord & Darling (aka 'The Muppets') are going to announce a £50 billion bank rescue plan tomorrow. Personally, I'm against my (ie, taxpayers) money being used to bail out & rescue these greedy city & banking fat cats who...

    Finding a good cabinet maker

Hi all, We have a short (4 ft) church style pew, which we need altering - nothing major, just 2 or 3 shelves adding to match the existing wood. Pretty certain its Oak - it has a lovely rich patina. Shelves need to be of suitable size to match the base item, at least 1" thick Can anyone...

    chIcken seasoning

To save money (I'm half Scot & live in Yorkshire  ) we frequently buy reduced items, with no ill effect. Its always interesting that people don't like it when their food has mould or fungus. The best stilton need a type of mould for its taste and as for fungus, what's a mushroom ? ...

    Off duty police officer sacked

I am disgusted by the police decision on this. Not because I am BNP (I'm not). But because I feel they are morally wrong. The officer was off duty and not in uniform. Had this not been the case, I'd say they'd have a strong case to pursue the action they took, but he wasn't. I do not...

What do you lot have in your toolboxes?

FWIW, I wouldn't recommend buying ANY tool until you need it. Build yourself up in experience & ability and as the requirement for a tool emerges or becomes obvious (and assuming its a tool you're likely to use again) THEN is the time to buy it. Buy the best you can afford, and stick to...
