    Obsolete 3 port valve ?

The Honeywell 3 port valve on my heating system has part number 40003915-003. I can't find this listed anywhere so I assume it is obsolete. It was installed when I moved in 23 years ago so it's quite old now. It's now stuck with CH and HW both open. Does anyone know if a direct replacement is...

    Where is the water going?

Thanks Whitespirit66 >>Can you check the any rad pipes under downstairs floor for leaks?<< Well this would be a mammoth task taking up all the floorboards in the house. Is there any way to avoid this? >>You definitely need to get the F&E loft tank sorted quickly, as you don't want to be...

    Where is the water going?

It could be and I have considered it. It would have to be from the other side of the tank and the problem is I can't see what there is behind the chimney so it would be a "cut and pray" exercise.

    Where is the water going?

Thank you for your replies. Terance:- Here is a picture.(I hope). There is very little room between the chimney and the rafters. I am resigned to the fact that I will have to remove roof tiles and roofing sheet to get at it but even if I fix the overflow leak I am still wondering where the...

    Where is the water going?

About 2 years ago I noticed water coming from the overflow of my central heating header tank. This tank is located in the loft but there is no access to it. The previous owner put all the water tanks in the tiny loft and then put the roof on!! (Honestly). I reasoned that if I shut off the stop...

Fluorescent tubes use more power than they should.

Thank you to all who replied. For me the important thing is what is my house meter is recording because that's what I'm paying for. Unfortunately I have a new digital meter which only displays whole kWh units. As I remember, the old aluminium dicsc type used to show fractions of a unit so it...

Fluorescent tubes use more power than they should.

I have been conducting an electricity audit in my house as my bills are too high. I replaced two halogen bars (4 x 50 W each) of lighting in the kitchen for 4 x 36W fluorescent tubes and 6 x 60W candle bulbs with 6 x 11W cfls in the lounge. I have a portable energy meter so I can walk round...

    CPU overheating

Thanks for that. Do you mean that the temperature being reported is incorrect so the PC shuts down unneccessarily? I opened up my office PC and touched the heat sink on the CPU and it is too hot to keep my fingers on it. I am wondering if the heat sink on my home PC is making good enough...

    CPU overheating

I bought my PC about a year ago . It contains an AMD Athlon 64 3200+,bus 2200Mhz, 1024kb ram, 204Gb Maxtor HD and NEC RW ND3540A DVD. I loaded Itunes just after I bought it and over a period, loaded CDs on to it usually 6 or 8 one after the other without a problem. A few weeks ago, after...

    Replacing a Honeywell V4073A valve.

Thank you Chris.I am slightly surprised at this. The mechanics of the actuator don't look strong enough to impart considerable force to the shaft.Do you think if I grasp the shaft in a mole grip and push it hard I can divert the flow only to the water circuit?I would really like to find out if...

    Replacing a Honeywell V4073A valve.

Could you explain this please. I thought that all the actuator did was move the shaft fully one way for heating, fully the other way for hot water and in the centre for both. So I thought moving it manually from one extreme to the other would select heating or hot water. The shaft moves freely...

    Replacing a Honeywell V4073A valve.

The problem is that hot water circulates in both water and CH regarding of the controller setting. I removed the electrical part of the V4073A and whatever the position I manually set the shaft to it still circulates in both circuits. Previously on another system I was able to change the head...

    Slow fill on Bosch dishwasher

There was no filter on the inlet hose. The plastic one at the valve inlet was clear. The water gushes out of the pipe when I remove the inlet hose.

    Slow fill on Bosch dishwasher

I have a 10 year old Bosch dishwasher which now takes approx 20 minutes to fill. You can hear the water dribbling in very slowly, and even the shortest wash cycle takes about 3-4 hours. I have checked the water pressure and I took out the inlet valve and dismantled it but I can't see anything...

My new Grant Vortex oil boiler does not light

Hi Oilman, Sorry for the delay but I thought you might like to know I followed your advice and called Grant. The guy they recommended was very good so I am 100% compliant now - no need to send for the thought police. By the way, if you still want to see my carefully serviced Potterton I...
