What have you been doing today?

Still stuck in hospital. Three weeks this coming Sunday. Feels like 6 bloody months! Looking to move me to a nursing home next week as they have done all they can for me here. Cancer is spreading and could only have a few weeks left. Not been an easy journey, but all financial affairs in order...

What have you been doing today?

Must admit, the nurses and ward staff are lovely. The higher up medico's don't seem to have much time to stop and chat, I know, they have lot of others to see), but I know if I manage to get out, I'm not going to be any better than when I come in. Meeting with the oncologist later this...

What have you been doing today?

They do let me go downstairs, (lift) because I'm on 7th floor. But then when I come back in it's humid. Two weeks now, and not much chance of getting out before Wednesday, by the looks of things.

What have you been doing today?

Still getting bored out of my skull in hospital. :( A whole week now and still no sign of getting home because my infection markers are still too high. I'm more at risk of getting an infection in here than I am at home! The ward is very warm with no air movement, so I have to keep popping down...

    Moving shed during garden works

What's it going to be made of, wood, plastic, sheet steel? Plastic is the lightest but can also become brittle after exposure to UV rays. If you place it on a couple of bearers, (2" x 2" or similar), you can get a couple of mates round when it's time and just lift and carry it, (making sure it's...

    Brave Browser passwords.

Think I'll stick with my little notebook of coded passwords, which would take Sherlock Holmes to unravel.

What type of joint is this?

Except to replace them with new ones. You could get away with replacing just the bottom one if money is a bit tight.

Would a turnbuckle work as a chain tensioner/puller?

Use the right tool, especially in work. It's no use the boss turning a blind eye to dodgy practices, he's still accountable. If you need a specialist tool, they should provide it. Maybe not to individuals, but certainly one for use by all in a workshop tool store. I've had a set of these for...

What have you been doing today?

Stuck in Ipswich hospital since yesterday afternoon. Got out the shower and noticed my ankles looked a bit puffy. Mid-morning it had spread to my mid calves so called oncology helpline. Told to go to A&E immediately. Spent afternoon and most of evening in a side room till they found me a bed in...

    Tidying up my Silicone

I'm more of a patient man. Rub it off with your index finger by rolling it towards you. Slowly, slowly, catchee monkee.

    Being a passenger.

Can't find the other thread about bad drivers so starting an off-shoot one. How are you as a passenger when someone else is driving? I'm very confident when my wife does the driving, but with others that I don't 'normally' go with, I can get a bit tense. This morning, I was out with a mate...

    Annoying Driving Habits...

That will be because most new young drivers, need to be informed which way to go. I think young people shouldn't be allowed satnavs until they have mastered the intricacies of the old style, fold up map spread across the car bonnet on a windy day, and then fold it up correctly afterwards...

    What happened to jobandknock?

Difficulty removing flow control handle on Bristan shower

Try a bit of washing up liquid around the back edge, (35), and with the handle back on, wiggle from side to side. Don't rush it. be patient. A few, very light, taps with a soft faced mallet may help to get some movement.

Adding a spur for an outside socket.

Yes, the sort you get at holiday parks like Centre Parcs. Inflatable ones are no good for my wifes crumbling spine. Bungalow was completely rebuilt 5 years ago and it will be the same spark who does this job, (he's just done the electrics in the loft conversion). The spa is a plug-in with a...

Adding a spur for an outside socket.

I have two double sockets next to each other, (32A ring circuit), and want to add two outdoor sockets. One for a rigid body spa and one for basic garden equipment such as strimmer's and hedge cutters, (mower is petrol). With them being so close to each other, I am assuming the cables come down...

    Garden Office TV mounting

I'd rather buy a piece of 18mm, screwed into the wall supports, and know the TV won't fall off the wall, than use a piece of scrap 5mm and hope it doesn't. What money you save on using the 5mm certainly won't cover the cost of a replacement TV.

    Dado rail help

I had this in my last house, skirting and coving going around a corner. I got round it by doing double thick cuts across the back, cutting quite close to the front. You will probably cut through at the recessed moulding sections but this can't be avoided but can be filled in later before...

What have you been doing today?

First of all I must own up and say I didn't do it myself. I paid a landscaper to come in and rip out all the brambles, weeds etc and he also cut down an ash and cherry tree growing at the back of the garage. I did give a hand in pulling some of the rubbish, such as the trailer and plastic oil...
