Hi, Boiler has reached the time for replacement. It is a conventional type. Undecided whether to go with similar conventional one or switch to a Combi? Will be getting some quotes for replacement. Views appreciated on staying with similar or switching to Combi? Views on good replacement makes...

So totally open circuit on two solenoid pins with power off is a definite failure/kaput?

Do you think the solenoid has totally failed? If so I am thinking getting a fixed price repair may be my best option?

Hi, Occasional FL failure on and off over last couple of months to Ideal Icos HE24. Reset button worked when required. Boiler now attempts to operate and gets to blue flashing ignition light but constantly fails to FL Took electrical plug ( blue and black wires ) off solenoid connection. Tested...

I am aware oil based ones will eventually yellow. But the Crown solo prior to 2010 was excellent. Still had a bit left and just repainted a room ( door, skirts frame etc. ) and after 3 yrs not a massive difference, looks really good but old stuff wasn`t yellowed! Are the professionals not using...

Yes I would dig out anywhere that is looking as though mortar is missing. Can see some places on top course and one below it. Also on the height of the 3 inch brick join appears to be some mortar missing. Do that and it should really be tickety boo is my bet. Shouldn`t take you too long. Good...

Just expanded your pic and must say that doesn`t look like mortar in between those bricks to me? Can you give a wider picture of that area?

I myself would dig out the stuff that is there now which feels weak and just repoint with new mortar mix.

On further look at picture. Make sure that is actual mortar in between those bricks and not something else? Just get mortar into necessary place and should be fine after that.

Has the Fascia been replaced? Most probably has and top brick been disturbed! Just re-mortar the joint and should be fine.
