    Securing Fence

I thought about wedges, Problem with wooden wedges is the wet dry cycle and wind - I knew this was going to happen. I was going to build the fence myself as I've done in the past but this was a lot of work so I trusted the work to a contractor You should've seen their first attempt at the...

    Securing Fence

That's the way they did it - 3 rails and fence boards. The gaps between posts would've meant custom size panels too

    Securing Fence

I had a fence built before Christmas, it's closed board with concrete posts. The company I used, used wooden wedges to secure the rails in place and as predicted with drying out and high winds they have started falling out and some of the panels have dropped Now before I get the company back to...

What earthing system is this ?

I've never found an earth rod, I'm wondering if it's connected to next door somehow via the conduit as the power is in series.

What earthing system is this ?

The 10mm G/Y is just connected to the clamp - it doesn't enter the conduit and goes to the CU, the old green earth (6mm?) comes from the conduit and is connected to the clamp

What earthing system is this ?

63 Amp should be okay as it'll be charged using the 3 pin granny charger on a 2.5mm radial with one socket and a 20amp rcbo (It's the single external socket on the property) Also charging will be done when there's almost zero load Might contact the DNO to see if I can get a 80 amp upgrade I'm...

What earthing system is this ?

Cheers, I'm just curious as I may be looking at getting an Electric Vehicle and they need good earths apparently. From what I know the houses in the street are connected serial and this one looks like the end property - There has been no history of issues Here's a pic of the setup , there is...

What earthing system is this ?

Just curious , it's a 1930s house - the main cable is inside steel conduit and the earth comes out of the conduit along with the main cable - the steel conduit then has a bonding strap attached to it. Main fuse is 63amp

    Hepvo to McAlpine WMF3

I plan on using a Hepvo vertically with a McAlpine WMF3 Spigot fitted directly to it (with the running adapter) Does anyone see any issues with this ? The washing machine uses a separate waste pipe.

    Fixing To Polystyrene Slabs

A friends house has been clad in polystyrene slabs for insulation (its a no fines house) not sure how thick (maybe 50mm) and rendered. Problem is I need to fix a hook for a washing line, not sure what fixing to use (was thinking of a long frame fixing)

    Uk Mains Plugs

The bend isn't that bad (about 2" to the bottom of the wall plate), silicone cable would be ideal - but most appliances don't come with that, just pvc - seriously it's not a huge issue as the sockets will get rarely used - I was merely asking if there was any alternatives to the standard entry...

    Uk Mains Plugs

I don't see any problem with it, just a flaw with uk plug design.

    Plumbing

Turns out it wasn't the plumbing / plastic pipe, it was the bath trap - must've knocked it slightly 8 months ago when I replumbed, and just then it decided to start leaking, redid it and no more leaks (phew) :)

    Uk Mains Plugs

its a little like this, the room is divided. so you have a small countertop / breakfast bar - you can see the American plugs work well. wonder how the cord grip works on that plug, good idea if a little odd :) IEC plugs would work but just a little bit industrial, i'd need IEC sockets...

Not now, everything's been plastered in and first fix done, don't think that would look too pretty either.

    Uk Mains Plugs

They are above a worktop underneath a breakfast bar top didn't really have much choice for location of the backboxes unless I wanted the bar height to be 1.5m :D - Flex of the cable shouldn't be a problem (If not using pvc cable) There's room but won't look right - american style plugs are...

    Uk Mains Plugs

Weird question but is there such a thing as a UK mains plug where the cable isn't wired from the bottom? e.g. from the top or front like european or american cables.
