    Shower tray - installation options

Hi all, So got an Orchard 1400 x 800 stone resin anti-slip shower tray. If anyone knows the brand it has 9 nylon screws that you use to level the tray, but the instructions states it needs to be laid directly onto marine ply (not floorboards) or a concrete floor. Now, it’s my in en suite and I...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Actually I didn’t repair the wire. I checked it and the solder seal was solid. I basically cleaned everything and almost soaked the whole thing in contact cleaner, left it a day, put it back together and everything worked a charm. Now that I have a new one which is constantly in use whilst...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Because I repaired it in the same way that they would. The guy in the shop (generic tool shop, but an authorised DeWalt repair centre) actually told me what to do. And it worked a great, until it started cutting out again. Didn’t really have the time to drive to the shop and then wait a few...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Further update to above. The very same damned day, the problem came back. So I bought a new one .

Self-leveller that can be drilled into?

I did mention in my OP that I’m using LVT.

Self-leveller that can be drilled into?

Lol, now why didn’t think of that?! Good idea But that won’t make good the unlevel floor. 10mm drop over 1.67m is quite a hill imo. By levelling the entire floor I have a blank canvas that’s new and smooth enough for LVT. I would think/hope that flexible and fibre reinforced SLC like the mapei...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Update on this, in case anyone else has the same issue….. I took it apart, blasted it with a compressed air can to remove excess dust and gunk, sprayed it to hell with WD-40 contact cleaner, let it dry for 24 hours, put it back together, and……? It’s like new, works perfectly Thanks for all your...

Self-leveller that can be drilled into?

Hi all, so maybe not the usual question everyone asks…. I’m levelling my 6sqm en suite as it has a 10mm run off from one end to the other. It consists of bare floorboards that’s “mostly” covered in well screwed down 6mm ply. However where my 1400x800 shower tray will go, I’m removing the...

USB sockets (without mains) in en suite

Thanks, yes I saw those the other day. That might be the better, less ambiguous option as we know shaver sockets are ok as long as in the correct zone.

USB sockets (without mains) in en suite

Because that’s not what I want to do. I’m completely re-doing the en-suite and wanted to put the chargers in there if I can. They need recharging once a week. Yes we could continue to charge from the bedroom as and when, but that’s not the point.

USB sockets (without mains) in en suite

Hi, Is it legal to install a 1g faceplate with 2xUSB sockets into an en suite? They are purely to charge our oral B electric toothbrushes as we have USB induction chargers that only require 5mA. There will be no mains sockets anywhere, I’d basically have a standard 1g power socket with twin USB...

Tiling half a wall around a door frame

Lol, perfect and simple. Perfectly simple, thanks guys. Dunno why I didn’t think of that, but hey…..that’s what this forum is for. cheers :D

Tiling half a wall around a door frame

Hi, hoping for some quick advice here. I’m tiling the bottom half of a wall with a doorway in it. Usually if it were a plain wall, it would be flat and you’d simply tile onto the wall with the trim on top and you effectively have 2 different levels. But how do I go about it when I then have to...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

I've just found a video on youtube that seems to indicate the same issue i'm having and having just spoken to a local dealt repair centre they pretty much said similar to the video (without me even mentioning it). So it'll cost me £25 for them to repair, or nothig if they can't. In which case...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

lol thanks bud. The irony is after trashing mine (well I think he did) my brother went and bought his own! Might just have to buy another one and let my mate take the dodgy one apart. He loves doing that to DeWalt tools for some reason.

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Thanks, but I did mention that battery wasn't the issue (because i'd tested 3 different ones all with full charge that work perfectly with my other tools). Lol, i had no issues until my little brother borrowed it :( Regarding your vibration theory: interesting, but if i sneak up on the speed it...

    DeWalt multi-tool issue

Hi all, my out of warranty DCS355 18v multi tool keeps cutting out on me. I’ve changed blades and batteries and it’s not either of those. So even if cutting into plasterboard if I go full speed straightaway it almost always cuts out (it should not and has never done that before). So I have to...

Single or double pole fused spur

Appreciate your input winston1 but’s that’s quite a bit of jungle maths there surely?! It wouldn’t be on 24 hours a day, more like 5-8 when needed as it’s really to take the chill out of the floor and provide some rising warmth. It would almost certainly only be on from November to March (as...

Single or double pole fused spur

Also, what’s your thoughts on switched or non-switched? The spur will go inline with the socket it’s being spurred off. So in the hallway, low level with the potential for some nugget to turn it off and kill the heat to the floor. That said, hopefully it won’t be needed for half of the year, so...

Single or double pole fused spur

So standard 13a then? Using 2.5mm t&e for the spur.
