    Wilo pump comparison?

UPDATE:- So, after a month where the noise is slightly less, but still too much I eventually found the comparative specs for the 2 wilo pumps, and as I suspected, the max flow rate of the Smart A25 is 2.75 cu mtr/hr, while the Gold RS50 it supposedly replaces has a max flow rate of 3.2cu mt/hr...

    Wilo pump comparison?

The system is 25 years old, over the years it's had 2 replacement pumps, the original Grundfos (@10 years) Wilo (another 10 years) another Wilo that needed a new capacitor @ 4 years, so Wilo have seemed pretty fair in comparison with Grundfoss. The wilo gold 50 I've just replaced is Ok apart...

    Wilo pump comparison?

Is the Wilo Smart A 25 a suitable replacement for the Wilo Gold 50? It was sold to me as such because the Gold 50 was unavailable/discontinued. I can't find any comparison specs and was wondering if this could be the root of my noise problem - see the thread 'Boiler noise is back'

    Boiler noise is back again

Sorry, wasn't clear enough. I couldn't get Fernox F1 the day I needed it last April, so used sentinel x100 instead, so I used the sentinel x400 in December. I know not to mix diff manufacturers prods. That's why I've ordered the Fernox silencer to go with the F1 inhibitor...

    Insulating 2" gap between houses . . .

Thanks - the reason ? "SWMBO suggested having this cavity insulated to retain heat." TBH I don't think it would make a deal of difference, but to keep the peace I told her I would enquire, so I'm enquiring. I thought that blown cavity insulation was a possibility, but not sure if it was...

    Insulating 2" gap between houses . . .

1910 terrace, brick built with a narrow gap (approx 1.5" - 2") between ours and next door. The gap is sealed with mortar at the front, lead flashing at roof height front and back (except where both chimney stacks are), but open gap at rear. SWMBO suggested having this cavity insulated to...

    Lifting cover of public sewer

Just a quick question - having problems with blocked sewer, the contractor for the water authority 'partner' came out, looked down the chamber on our property, said "it's private (not section 24), can't touch it", but didn't look down the street manhole. Had it jetted by private contractor, who...

Does any one know how good (or otherwise) these people:-http://www.buildingcentreofexcellence.co.uk/ are? Or has anyone signed up with them? My daughter's partner is a plasterer (also does other bits of building work) in his first year of business and has been really struggling since...

    Tackers, Dabbers and Skimmers?

Hmmm, thanks for the replies, but they're not very enlightening. I'm sure it's one of those "if you need to ask, it's not for you" things, but I was intrigued and would like to know. Anyone?

    Removing stained lithofin slate seal?

Update - managed to find the original tin of sealer, and there is a Lithofin product formulated to remove it - Wax off. I also tried a little in an unobtrusve section of the stain, and it seems to remove the white marks! so I'll leave it for a few days to dry properly before doing the rest...

    Removing stained lithofin slate seal?

Hopefully someone can advise me. I laid a black chinese slate floor in our kitchen about 3 years ago with considerable help from this forum. It was sealed with a couple of coats of Lithofin MN slate seal, and it has lasted very well indeed. Today, an unfortunate accident with a Galileo...

Can the building inspector do this?

My neighbour is selling his house, price agreed, surveys done, no problems. Due to complete in a week or so. Out of the blue a building inspector called walked in and demanded that the owner knock holes in the plasterboard cladding on an RSJ. This beam was installed when the wall between the...

    Wall cupboards over cooker

Hope this is the right forum - I've searched various others in vain. The question - my daughter has just rented an unfurnished house and there is a space in the kitchen where a 500mm gas cooker was removed. She's going to replace it but there is a wall cupboard (part of a run of them) above...

    Range Rover clicking problem

Hi there - are the clicks high or low frequency? ie 'light' or 'heavy' sounds, Has it got air suspension? We have the same car with this and there are all sorts of pumps (including the ABS etc) and as the pumps go on and off there are lots of clicks, and there appears to be no consistency as...
