Is there any thing I can do to fix this problem, that wont coast me a arm and a leg. can i flush the system my self.

I need some help, my hot water comes on gets very hot then goes cold then back on then cold, the boiler is about 3 years old and the problem started a week ago, I drianed the system, and refilled, and still the same problem, can any one help me.
