    Black mould has recently be rated along side asbestos for lung related illnesses. Remove all the grout and replace with an epoxy grout. For sealant use a product with microban in it. Ty

    Same as before. You can over lay with ply and use a 2 part flexible adhesive to fix your tiles. Dont worry about the washing machine. They use 2 part flexi in tube stations where there is a bit more vibration. Ty

    Yes sandpaper is a good option its just that it is to time consuming. Its not a bad idea to score and then a quick rub over with sand paper. The sanding will help to break up any contamination ie grease. Ty

    You dont need to remove all of the paint. Just score it diagonally in both ways about 50mm apart. This is enough for the adhesive to bond behind the paint. Ty

    spacers or not when wall tiling

    I always use spacers as handyjon does. recycling them as i go but i dont get adhesive in my joints. I also always tile level and plumb never tapering the joints always rake cutting the top and bottom rows of tiles if required. Ty :wink:

    Sorry no. a tanking system is a cross binding of polymers that still alow tiles to be fixed to them without reducing bonding strength between adhesive and background. Ty

    plastering before tileing

    Leaving plaster to dry is a case of the longer you leave it the greater the bond strength. 2 weeks are better than one etc. 4 weeks is the correct length of time. With regards to tanking onto paint, the paint should be removed before tiling anyway so remove it before tanking. Ty :D

    Could be a product called Fast Flex. With it you dont need to over lay with ply. Bet you are having a mare trying to get it up if it is fast flex. It is easier to go one with the product but as you can now see it isnt easy to get the tiles up again. Ty

    The easiest and seems to be the best tanking system i have used is from BAL. You can buy it in most TOPPS tiles or tile shops that sell BAL products. Ty

    What type of grout is it? I would if the (tiler) has not already have used an epoxy grout. I wouldnt rip all the tiles up unless the floor is weakening. You can remove the grout and use an epoxy making the floor waterproof. This is going to cost you far less money. Ty

    because i know what i am doing. Tanking a shower will only take 15 minutes to do. How long will it take to fill each grout joint with a sealant that will never truly bond to the tile anyway? Ty :roll:

    If you have a look at www.tileforums.com they talk about a tanking system. This is a water proof membrane that you apply to the plaster before tiling. On the forum they will tell you how to do it. Ty :P

    Technical aspects. Adhesives and components are used. The cross binding of polymers to create flexibility and bond strengths through the use of plastics and cement. You can use a bag on a wall but not a bucket on a floor. Ty :roll:
