Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Hi, When I removed the old knackered fan I just made a not of where they went and then placed them in the same place (wire wise) in the new fan. I'm going to take picture of isolater soon so you can see all the wires because I'm no electrician so you can determine from the pictures...

Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Yep I understand about quotes and cost- I will get 3 quotes. As mentioned, the fan is double insulated so a slight bonus. Will update on eventual price.. Regards, BW

Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Hi, I maybe thought a little low- but with a little bit of wiring needed to connect either main switch, isolater and/or bulb socket- £50 should be more than adequate. It should only take a decent electrician about 45 minutes if that surely?? Regards, BW

Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Any idea how much an electrician would charge to link the extractor fan to the main light or main switch so it turns on when light on and off when you turn it off? hopefully £20? I was going to attempt it but I'm not an electrician and whilst I can change plugs, fuses and simple wiring I...

Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Hi, The fan I bought and fitted was a basic fan and not a timer fan. In terms of the wiring I'm not 100& sure. Is there a way to check. I left the fan on (with isolater switch on) and turned the bathroom light off but unfortunately the fan did not turn off. Does this help at all...

Linking bathroom extractor fan to main light switch

Hi All, When I moved in this year in my house I noticed in the bathroom there was an extraction fan. This did not turn on when I turned on the light (as I expected). I then looked up and could see a fan isolater switch. I then turned this on and the fan did not run. I suspected the fan was...

Having pre-fab garage built on plot of land in 'parking area

Hello, I live in a 2 bed terraced house which is not accessible from the road. To access it you have to walk down a snicket past some bungalows and then turn to the left and down some steps. Included in the freehold title is section of land in a 'parking area'. To access this you come out of...

    Ravenheat RSF 82e 'cycling' problem

Afternoon all, over the last 6 months had a few odd problems with the above boiler but I settled most of them just a few little points still bugging me and I'm positive that what's happening is not the normal way the boiler functions. 1. When you run the hot tap you can hear the boiler fire...

ravenheat rsf 82e hot water problem

Hi Agile, you're right I've not got the kit to measure the resistance on the sensor and it was more a way of whittling down common problems. Have you any idea how much a diverter valve would be? I've heard they are a pig to change so would it be something I would change myself or definitely...

ravenheat rsf 82e hot water problem

hi Agile, I've tried that (running shower with H/W basin tap on and the shower works fine, does this more than likely not boiler diverter valve or could it be DHW or CH Sensor do you think? Regards BW

ravenheat rsf 82e hot water problem

HI all, as Agille directed I've measured the flow rate out of the taps and it is definitely greater than 3 litres a minute, probably 3.5. It was a bugger to measure but that's done now. I did incidentally check the boiler DHW and CH sensor and discovered that the DHW sensor had corroded quite...

ravenheat rsf 82e hot water problem

Thanks for that tip agile, I'll try and measure it very shortly, I can remember from before though, as soon as you turn on the basin tap it comes on, literally less than a quarter of a turn but not however when the shower is turned on.. perplexing... I'll get the litre per minute...

ravenheat rsf 82e hot water problem

hi all, got a problem with my ravenheat rsf 82e. I turned on my shower this morning and after a minute where it usually gets hot, it did not. I went to the boiler and left the shower running and the boiler was not firing up. I then tried the bath taps and the hot water tap got hot including the...
