    Off-peak supply not turning on?

Thanks for the reply. Each flat has it’s own meter cupboard (photo attached) the first photo shows the cupboard as it was originally, the second one shows the replacement meter which replaced the time switch and meter (I don’t have a photo of the cupboard after the meter change).

    Off-peak supply not turning on?

Hi folks, My wife has a small flat which has been unoccupied for a while. Someone recently moved in and they have told us that the night storage heater is not coming on (storing energy) and the water is not heating unless the “boost” control is used; the water heater and storage heater are on...

Flooring material for a wooden shed?

Hi folks, Looking for advice on material (type & thickness) for a shed floor? ideally something with a decent lifespan and not too expensive. Was thinking oak floorboards but figure the cost would be pretty high so maybe exterior or marine ply, OSB, scaffold boards, treated softwood, something...

    Faulty meter?

Engineer visited on Sunday 10/7. Meter clocking 85% fast. New meter installed yesterday 26/7. Bill written off and a reasonable (but not huge considering the stress this has caused my wife) amount of compensation offered. Thanks again to all who offered advice!

    Sewer Vent?

Hi Andy - I suspect it would turn into a money pit if I did Thanks JohnD, there is a manhole cover about 6 feet away.... Anyone know what’s the best way to bring it down to ground level? Was thinking of building a brick frame and putting a gully over the pipe? Thanks

    Sewer Vent?

Hi folks, anyone know what this is - it’s made of cast iron? There’s one at the boundary of a lot of properties in Aberdeen.(which all seem to have been built in the mid 1960s). I think it might be a sewer vent but would like confirmation as we’re widening the opening to our driveway. Thanks

    Faulty meter?

Just a quick update, supplier asked for a creep test to be done. Did the creep test and sent them the results + photos + video on 22/11/20. They acknowledged receipt and were going to arrange engineers. They were e-mailed on Wed (16/12/20) asking for an update. Got a reply today (20/12/20)...

    Faulty meter?

Hi folks, In the last 25 hours the meter reading has increased by 3,2,5 (day, night, total) units... current draw with both c/u switches off 8mA, c/u on 187 mA (which I’m guessing is the lights (1) + the mains heat (1) & smoke detectors (2)) hob 1 ring on (to create a decent draw) 6A lights &...

    Faulty meter?

Just back after doing some checks, meter readings have increased by 4, 1, 5 (day, night, total) units in 28 hours and the led is still flashing every 18-19 seconds. 104mA on the supply side of the fuse, 72mA between fuse and teleswitch, 34mA between fuse and meter. 6mA between teleswitch & c/u...

    Faulty meter?

Thanks.... Just so I’m sure I’ve got this straight... The live (& neutral) from the supply fuse to time switch is only to power the t-switch, the neutral between the t-s and the meter is used to tell the meter when it’s to count “off-peak”. Thought I’d cracked it just can’t figure out where...

    Faulty meter?

Hi folks, I’ve spotted something strange... Sunray’s photo I can understand (assuming the N between meter & timeswitch is used to record night-time usage - the guy who installed the smart meter at our house recently mentioned the neutral in connection with metering...). As well as the...

    Faulty meter?

Hi Folks, quick update.... Between Thursday 12/11 @ 7pm and Saturday 14/11 @ 11:30am the meter recorded 9 units of electricity used (6 daytime & 3 night time). Photos of both fuse boxes and the services access point beside it (I figured the easiest way for someone else to steal electricity...

    Faulty meter?

Thanks for the info, the LED is definitely flashing but I never took much notice of it. It flashed once or twice while I was taking the ‘photos so maybe every 90 seconds but it could be as low as every 10 minutes - I’ll pay more attention next time. The only thing we’ve done differently this...

    Faulty meter?

The flat is unoccupied, we visit it at least once a week (insurance requirement while vacant) various days/times. There are NO signs of anyone using the flat ie the bed cover does not have wrinkles, the kitchen appliances are still clean with no crumbs/debris/food. The water is off at the...
