The health and safety at work act covers exactly that.... At work. The gas safety regulations are all encompassing, so cover both work and householders etc, so the point you are trying to make is irrelevant, do yourself a favour and read up, it's all there on the net for you from official...

can you be prosecuted, from illegal gas work ? Can you be sent to prison for illegal gas work ? Yes to both, so I'd pretty much say that's law and not a civil matter.

BTW fans are listed because in many appliances, gas ovens included, they also supply combustion air to the burners, in the case of GDHA gas built in ovens fitting them the wrong way round causes unstable flames.

It is not misleading in any way, the HSE made it clear a couple of years ago than certain parts on a gas appliance were not allowed to be swapped by anything but a competent engineer, fans were one of the components listed, and there is nothing in law that says people can work "on their own...

Its not the fact of whether you need to disconnect the gas, its because the fan is an integral part of a gas appliance that you aren't allowed to work on it, I can only reccomend that you call out an engineer to repair the fault.

Make ? Model ? Although as its gas you are not allowed to do anything legally unless you're either gas safe registered or legally competant.

Not sure if you have your answer now as this is an oldish thread but if you have an all lpg cooker (i.e. ovens and hob) then you cannot change it to NG, if you have dual fuel (gas hob and electric ovens) then you can.

Could well be thermistors not sensing any heat so therefore shutting down the appliance and making it go into lock out, no guarentee it is that though it could be the pcb or other things, it is by far the most complicated oven ever made so you won't be able to just call anyone out to fix it...
