    Window Vents For Pantry

Yup, going to go for simple louvre on the outside and a hit and miss on the inside with a long narrow stainless steel louvre for the bottom of the pantry door. Simple solution and costs less. Thanks.

What's the point of mounting it in the door? Just open it. Far more effective and costs a whole lot less.

    Window Vents For Pantry

It wouldn't work as there is the shelf for the tumble dryer then below that is a hot and cold water pipe run then below that there is my work bench against the wall outside. Nothing is ever straightforward :(

    Window Vents For Pantry

Yes, I'm going to get the installer to provide a 160mm hole in the panel and fit a vent-a-matic I think. It's £40 vs £120 plus fittings etc for a fan. I can add some pulleys to operate the cords. I was thinking of getting a core drill in the wall but space is really tight around the window and...

Sorry, I never did update this. Did nothing in the end. I think global warming has reduced the condensation problems in our kitchen!

    Window Vents For Pantry

HI All, Not been on this forum for many years! Quick question - we have a pantry/larder in our kitchen that houses a washing machine and a seldom used tumble drier (condensing). The old window to the larder that opens into our lean to conservatory is just single glazed and permanently open...

    Worth Adding Wall Insulation?

Hi, currently doing up the spare room we have to become our daughter's bedroom. It currently is a darkroom. It has two external walls - longest N facing, shortest W facing and is the back room of a typical Victorian terraced house, so notorious for being cold. Current loft space above...

    Venting a Kitchen

Yes, thought as much. However we do vent into it by opening a window. However I think more cold air comes in than warm moist air goes out, hence the need for mechanical venting.

    Venting a Kitchen

Yes, the ceiling height of the kitchen is below that of the lean-to. Nothing is ever easy is it! No viable/easy/attractive way of getting a vent to the outside through the kitchen wall and through the lean-to roof, or via the lean-to front wall as there is a stench pipe, rainwater pipe and a...

    Venting a Kitchen

Hi All, We too have terrible condensation issues. I've read most of the posts here but cannot find a remedy to what we are trying to achieve. I am wanting to fit an extractor fan to our kitchen to remove moist air from cooking. The only external wall is covered by a lean to conservatory...

    Shrader Valve - Expansion Vessel

Just to say I tried all the car motor factors round here and none had any and did not stock them either :( I was about to give up when I remembered that even closer by was a motorcycle shop. They had just the thing as the above ebay link - but even cheaper, with no postage and no waiting. A...

    Shrader Valve - Expansion Vessel

Actually - that is not a bad idea. If I can get a bit of threaded tubing (internal and external) and a long threaded nut I have enough space to just extend the exisiting valve. Good thinking. Any idea what the thread is on these valves?

    Shrader Valve - Expansion Vessel

Hi Forum, not posted on here for years!!! Now back with a question. I have an Ideal Classic RS Sealed System boiler. It is about 13 years old. Recently the pressure has been dropping on the gauge. This is due to the air valve on the Expansion vessel being a little leaky. Nothing dramatic...

2 Gang Light Swich - Dimmer and Normal?

Hi, I'm trying to source a 2 Gang light switch for my living room. One gang a normal rocker switch and the other a dimmer. Do these exist? The reason is I wish to put low energy lamps in the wall uplighters and keep the existing ceiling light on a dimmer. I currently have a 2 gang dimmer...

    Compact Flourescent Problems

Just to update you on this problem. It was a dodgy FCU switch. It was not making good contact on the "phase" contact (DP switch) - replaced with a decent MK one now and all's good. It was a tricky b*****r to locate the problem - until I heard a very feint "arcing" sound from the switch about 45...

    Compact Flourescent Problems

MAPJ1, Thanks for the input. Yes, good idea about putting a filament lamp on the end of the circuit. This I will try. I expect it is some effect on the electronics causing this to happen as you describe. I'm pretty sure the switch and circuit are fine. It seems odd that the lamps behave as...

TRV on Return - A Problem?

Dear all, this is me first pot on here so a big hello to you. Useless egit who plumbed our loft conversion back in the summer has put the TRV on the return on the new rad in the loft. Is this a problem or will it still work OK? I really cannot face getting him back to sort out his c0ck-up...
