ok its definitely this one that smells. what am i looking for to see if its faulty? can these switches be bought?

thanks for your help. i dont think it is simply the on/off switch sticking. It gives off a metallic smell when running. only need it to last another few months as i was going to renovate the bathroom anyway just not yet due to funds. is this possible/expensive to fix?

Hi all, my shower will not turn off on the unit and i can only switch off at the mains pullcord. i have been advised that it is the solenoid valve but dolphin is no longer trading or the part is obsolete. Can anyone help me out with this?

Cheers peaps, i'd love to take you up on your offer, but do need to get cracking! so sooner rather than later thats what puts me off getting someone round to quote as i always think they are just after the work. and i'm never certain they know what they are doing so to just get some advice...

and am i right in thinking that the painted render which has been put on the outside brickwork half way up the wall is more likely to keep the damp in than moisture out? If this is the case would it then be pointless using lime without first taking the render off as the wall will not be...

oh and the surface of the brickwork is pretty uneven if this makes a difference?

and what is the best way to fix them? i take it this will prevent the damp wall problems not merely hide them? I will be putting a dehumidifier in there to remove damp beforehand

I will also be waiting with baited breath on the outcome of this as I could do with understanding a bit about the fixing of these boards as i dont want to stud it if possible due to the narrowness of the hall already

I didn't really have much choice taking the plaster off as it was falling off anyway. would any plasterer be happy to use these lime based plasters? If I was to go down the route of insulating boarding it what membrane would i use and would this go underneath the wooden battens? money...
