Safe to use bleach in sinks/drains?

For years I've been keeping my sink and bath plugholes and overflows clean and clear by putting in a bit of bleach for a few hours or overnight before cleaning the bathroom. Recently I read somewhere that bleach can damage pipes and now I'm worried that I've been destroying my pipes all these...

    Magnaclean a must?

Thank you everyone for very interesting replies, especially Onetap and Agile. For those talking about prices, in case you're interested, to fit Magnaclean in the course of installing my new boiler British Gas quoted an additional £230+VAT, while my local engineer quoted an extra £85+VAT...

    Magnaclean a must?

Simple question - hopefully simple answer! I'm having a new boiler (and two additional radiators) installed soon. System will be powerflushed. Should Magnaclean be installed as well? The British Gas guy who came to quote seemed to know his stuff but he didn't mention Magnaclean, whereas the...

Intermittent hot water - 3-way valve problem

About a month ago, my boiler developed an intermittent fault. Sometimes, when I request hot water, the water doesn't heat but the radiators get hot (or hotter, if they're already on). This continues for a couple of hours or even a couple of days, and then the system goes back to working...

Request hot water, get hot radiators!

I have an Ariston Compact 400 combi boiler. The radiators are working perfectly, but when I try to use the hot water, the water comes out cold or lukewarm (at best), and the radiators get hot (or hotter, if they're already on). It doesn't seem to make any difference if the boilder is switched to...

    Variable water pressure

There's no separate tank - I'm running off the main tank. It's difficult to tell from the flow through the bath taps - it looks about the same to me - but the flow restrictor sounds likely. I had the same shower before - when the water pressure was lower - and I never had any problem with it.

    Variable water pressure

Yes, there is a header tank on the roof of the building. (It's a large block - nine stories, around sixty flats in total.)

    Variable water pressure

I live in a fifth-floor flat. Recently the council installed a new pump to raise the water pressure in the block of flats. Now, the pressure of the water coming out of the taps fluctuates from one moment to the next. More importantly, my power shower no longer works properly. Sometimes it works...
