    I put the other 2 wires into the two empty terminals which it didn't work. if I swap the red and brown wires over and they aren't in the wrong place it could get nasty surely...

    It is a new one I'm trying to fit so already has got guarantee. I would put brown to brown then red to the white like the original light but don't want to risk it.

    The make of the one I have is Kingfisher, the instructions are crap, nothing like the ones above. I would think the red and brown has been put in the wrong place as that would then match the old light but don't really want to risk messing the wires 2 wires.

    Thanks for the reply, I tried putting the brown opposite the red however the light is completely dead.... could what you posted be why? Would it work if I swapped the red around with the brown like the old light?

    I'll probably go for the cavity insulation as it seems the best. Can you cut the insulation to fit in between the batons? Is it dangerous to inhale the slab insulation like it is loft insulation?

    Thanks for the reply, the only problem is the baton used to build the wall is 3 inches and the slab insulation thickness on Wickes is 100mm which is 4 inches? Any idea if you can get it slightly thinner? Cheers
