Can Range Tribune Thermostats leak 12V when closed?

I have an 9 year old Range Tribune HE unvented cylinder thermostat connected to a Vaillant VR66 using the cylinder thermostat terminal but when the thermostat is closed there is a 12v signal registering (Vaillant say it should be 0v.) which is causing the boiler to keep firing and hold the hot...

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

I spoke to Vaillant about using a 3 zone valve and they say that it won't be able to transmit more than 20 Kw and I'm using a 37 Kw boiler, but that a switching relay to convert the two signals to one signal will work using the VR65 / 470f. So still looking for advice on the relay.

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

Exactly. If I want to go that route I'd better ring their tech department I guess. Goes against the grain a bit not to use the gas boiler though.

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

That's funny, I was just thinking that myself. Range do say the immersion isn't designed for continuous use though, but maybe if it's fitted with a timer that would be OK?

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

Also Vaillant were happy for both cylinders to be on the system if the commercial weather compensation version were used. I wasn't happy about zip tying the Vaillant probe to the immersion casing though, as there would have been no proper control of the temperature of the water in the...

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

The hot water use here means that the cylinders are hardly ever in use at the same time and water consumption here is really low. Hot water demand never causes the boiler to run for more than about 10 minuets at a time as we all get up at different times and every body showers. One cylinder...

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

And I take it that the existing 2 port heating zone valve is replaced by the 3 port? It seems such a simple solution I can't understand why Vaillant made is so complicated for me. They also said the same to the heating engineer. So thanks very much for the suggestion.

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

Where are the two 2 port valves wired to? Is it the Vaillant wiring centre that comes as part of the domestic weather system or to the 3 port valve? Any plumbing changes in the boiler cupboard are perfectly acceptable. So thanks for that.

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

I think the tee is in the boiler cupboard as far as I can see. It says cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 on two pipes teed off from the main flow pipe out of the boiler. Just to add, the installation was existing but with a non condensing boiler.

The H/W system cannot be re-plumbed. We have to use the existing pair of H/W zone valves. (at opposite ends of the house) Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Help with Vaillant Controls Needed

I've had a Vaillant ecoTec 637 fitted and I specified the commercial Valliant weather compensation upon Vaillant's advice. My house has a normal S plan system but has two Range Tribune HW cylinders so the domestic version couldn't be used. (according to Vaillant) However when the electrician...

Vaillant weather compensation with 2 zone HW?

Can you recommend a suitable relay? I tried to follow Vaillant tech dept solution and use their commercial weather compensation system but that didn't work because it had to use the cylinder temperature probes that came with the commercial system and there was absolutely no way to connect...

Vaillant weather compensation with 2 zone HW?

Thanks again. One thing, the Range Tribune over the kitchen has a Honeywell wiring centre with 4 cables connected plus a Honeywell two port valve. The other one has all Range controls and wiring centre. I’m wondering how many wires go back to the main Honeywell wiring centre by the boiler...

Vaillant weather compensation with 2 zone HW?

Thanks. The HW cylinders already have a 2 port each on them, also a pressure vessel each and thermostat. I've just been up with a torch, looked around the back, and the tanks are Range Tribune with Range 2 port valve and thermostat wired into a small box on the wall that also says Range...

Vaillant weather compensation with 2 zone HW?

The two HW cylinders are already installed. I think because the bathrooms are about 20 meters apart. It has a non condensing boiler and it's that I want to change. I used the Vaillant with weather compensation in my last house and I really liked it. I started using weather compensation...

Vaillant weather compensation with 2 zone HW?

My house has a HW cylinders at each end and I want to fit a Vaillant system boiler with full weather compensation but the control centres they do don't have connections for two lots of HW sensors and motorised valves. Any one know how to do it? Thanks

Vaillant System with 2 heating zones and hot water

I had exactly the same set up and just put the VRC 430 in the hall and let the heat from the underfloor circuit set the flow temperature by the VRC 430 thermostat monitoring it. My underfloor heating circuit had a motorised valve on it but we never connected it up. My underfloor system was a...

Vaillant VRC430 - what works and what doesn't?

I just had a thought that my gas consumption figures might be of interest. The cost for heating and hot water 24/7 with a two degree set back at night for 6 hours is £510 p.a. which for a large 4 bed detached 1905 house as described in my post above I think says a lot for weather compensation.
