    Supplying a summerhouse...

Thanks for the advice. I was under the impression that outdoor wiring should be buried in plastic tubing to protect it from weathering, though I'd heard there were cables which would resist damage without it. I'll get in touch with an electrician beforehand then... I want to do most of the...

    Supplying a summerhouse...

I'm gonna be building a summerhouse to use as a studio and want to get it powered. I may only need a single 2 socket fitting and was just wondering what would be the best way to go about it? I was thinking of wiring it up myself from outside to the house, burying the wire in tubing along the...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

Sorry I should have worded that better... I thought it'd lose more than the value of the compressed thickness, though I don't know how that would compare to polystyrene of the same depth anyway. If it'd provide roughly the same level of insulation then that's the way I'll go

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

Ah OK, I was thinking of getting cheap carpet and laying it straight on the polystyrene, but then the polystyrene would probably end up being compressed and uneven as I walk on it and from the weight of my furniture. Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative to carpet underlay that might do...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

I've seen some great offers for fibre wool (buy 1 get 3 free) but I was thinking I'd have to buy more wood as well to make the frames to support it because I'd read that once you've compressed it, it loses most of its insulation value because there's less air between the fibres?

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

 I understand where you're coming from, but the electrics will be 2 4 plug extension leads just like I'm using in my room now and as for heating, I'll be using an oil filled radiator rather than an air blowing heater for that reason. If I was building a permanent studio I'd probably...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

Pitched roof above where the monitors will be to prevent vertical standing waves, walls that can vibrate freely preventing bass buildup... the mids and highs I'll treat with foam & the sofabed will be a good absorber & diffuser, but it'll already be a massive improvement over the room I'm in...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

This sounds like a nice and easy fix, but it also sounds like it could be a complete disaster if it went wrong :D Well I'm glad you're not my neighbour then... there's never any need for people to 'grass eachother up'. What exactly do you gain from it? A feeling of self satisfaction in...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

[/url] Yeah I'm gonna ignore that  Very good point, that stuff's a nightmare and probably a fire hazard if left bare come to think of it Cheers i'll look into that, I'll probably cut a vent into one of the walls for ventilation to try and prevent damp from high humidity. Do you...

Converting a summerhouse into a bedroom...

I won't go into the details about how it came about, but I'm looking into buying this summerhouse: http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/Summerhouses/BillyOh-Composers-Cabin-Summerhouse and converting it into a music studio/bedroom for me to sleep and work in. There's no need for any...
