Hi, Got a HW tap on the bath that when you turn it on full gets stuck, the wife has to call me to give it a turn to get it to free, it doesn't leak and doesn't stick anywhere else just when its on full out gets sort of locked. Its a basic bath mixer with a shower attachement. Any ideas...

Nice cheers :D Seems a Hi stat had been soldered to the original wires and that's the reason the boiler kept turning off, replaced with O/H stat and all works fine now

As you look at a Thorn Apollo 15 / 30 on the heat exchanger is a stat that is connected to the thermocouple. Is this the Hi or Low stat, the stat that is connected at the moment the stat numbers are, T24 LC A/082-15 A627 Also I have seen to types one that need soldering to the original...

My pilot flame is now yellow and the flame is not in great contact with the Thermocouple, would a new top socket fix this??? Cheers :)

I want to know when this would have been installed, the house is 20yrs old would it been from new or retrofitted by someone, what were the byelaws in the 80's for CW storage.

The CW storage tank in the loft has a insulated jacket with a plastic sheet over the top of the tank (like a big condom with insulated sides), it does not have a lid as such. When would this have been installed i.e. what sort of era were these available? Cheers

I've had all sorts of problems with my pilot light on my Thorn Apollo Tried cheapo way = intermittent and unreliable Ended up paying for the thing to be fully done by a pro only to find out it wasn't running properly in the first place, hopefully will be ok when fixed tomorrow

New Gas Valve quoted £260 fitted being done tomorrow night. This is alot of money if it doesn't work, what else would cause or be attributal to so I can chat it over with the engineer before the boiler becomes beyond economical repair

So the gas valve is knackered the engineer is going to see if he can source another, so I don't get fobbed off about it being obsolete where is the best place to source a gas valve ?

Finally sorted my Thorn Apollo out and had it gas safety checked by a good Corgi guy round the corner, he found the gas pressure wound up far too much beyond the boiler's limits :shock: , of which he turned down :D. But I have an intermittent problem which doesn't seem to happen when he is...
