Painting a house that'll forever crack

Many thanks for the tip's Chris The paint looks like it'll do the job so worth trying, the cracks are so fine that without actually digging them out I'm not sure they're even wide enough to accept any filler [really hairline] Will most definitely try filling/covering them with the paint...

Painting a house that'll forever crack

Hi all Right what I think I know is: My house is 150 years old It's built on mud, there's no footings it's simply sat straight on the clay. I believe it's a lime type mortor between bricks and what I've read is this stays flexible and will allow movement without causing cracks...

    Any Woodworm experts out there?

We bought a house a few months ago that had been repossessed but was in our price range, the biggest issue with it is having no known history :( I have been involved in property maintenance and kitchens & bathrooms for around 10 years and until work dried up this is what I did to earn a...

    Damp problem

Hi ya It's a new floor, joists are fine and I left the gap under the skirting to tuck the edge of the new carpet under  The brickwork between the joists [under floor] was bone dry, I cut the new socket in and the bricks are dry and as hard as. It's an upstairs room and is rendered...

    Damp problem

Hi all We bought this old cottage requiring work because it was what we could afford, it had been empty for a year and a repossession so no history available. The top front bedroom needed a new floor as the previous people had used chipboard offcuts that were no wider than a foot and...

    Firebird oil fired boiler problems

Cheers for telling me my boilers cack, that is one of the questions I asked so thanks  Mind you had a mate here since and his boilers a different make yet shares a lot of the components :? The gripe [not whine] I had is the fitting 22mm end feed elbow that was clearly visible on top...

    Firebird oil fired boiler problems

Hi all We have just moved into a new home with one of the above fitted, the house was a repossession so little of the history other than the neighbours tell us it's only a couple of years old. The house has had a lot of money spent on it, new double glazing, new wiring, new plumbing...

Right way to pack the lorry.

 I hope I do better than that guy did  Thanks for all the fantastic advice guy's, in the last 3 1/2 years of trying to sell and doing so four times only to have the chain collapse each time [even after signing contracts twice] we've greatly reduced our belongings. The last time...

Right way to pack the lorry.

Hi all We're moving ourselves through necessity really [didn't have the £4.5k quoted] and have hired a 7.5t box truck/van with a tail lift. I have hired the truck for a week so we have it two days before we move, a day of travelling and not having to be back till two days after [5 day hire...
