The poor stat of our building trade

If you are doing it right now then you 'pass the buck', if you say you did it in the past (as Bodd did) then you 'passed the buck'.

The poor stat of our building trade

Actually, to be pedantic, it should have been "passed the buck"

    A2 Bike Licence

I agree that the course would probably be worth doing. It has been many years since I did mine but I think it was worthwhile. Not least for the 'local knowledge' of the instructor, eg. mine took us to all the places the tester was likely to take us on the test and pointed out where there were...

Can I use generic adhesives for EPDM roofing?

I would use the proper stuff, it isn't that expensive. The EPDM glue I last used definitely was not the same as PVA. It was white, but that was about the only similarity.

Can an old car pass the MOT without a spare wheel

Indeed, that would have been more use. This year that wheel was being used as one of the roadwheels and was deemed to be perfectly acceptable.

Can an old car pass the MOT without a spare wheel

I got an advisory for "Spare tyre defective" (it wasn't, but whatever, it didn't matter) on my second van last year. I think he just wanted to be able to write something as there was nothing else to note ;)

    Conservative Party Support dying off

And yet, despite the 'cheering crowds' and the extra money the latest poll shows they are behind and May is considered a better option as PM. https://yougov.co.uk/news/2018/08/23/voting-intention-conservatives-40-labour-37-20-21-/

What Hoselock adapter do I need?

The things which spring to mind are that either a) it has slid in and you can therefore pull it out, b) that's the side the winding handle goes, or c) it has broken off. Obviously we can only see one side in the photo so I have to assume the handle is underneath. If it has broken off it is a...

How deep are the services buried in my garden?

I did a fence a few weeks ago and the water supply to the house was about 6 inches below ground, just missed it luckily. Dig carefully.

What Hoselock adapter do I need?

Hozelock parts catalogue: https://www.hozelock.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/33675-001-Watering-SPARES-2017.pdf?x97923 You will probably find it is a 5/8" connector, most of the DIY stores don't sell those, only the 1/2" and 3/4" threaded connectors which will not fit. I wanted to replace the...

How much better is a more expensive pruning saw?

Not in my experience, no. When I was looking there seemed to be many variations, some research, or input from someone more knowledgeable than myself, may be required if you are looking to buy some. My poles are old cylindrical fibreglass ones (can't afford a new set, so making do with...

How much better is a more expensive pruning saw?

It is worth shopping around, having checked, I paid £21 for my Gardena saw (not the £29 that Amazon want), but there was probably postage costs on top of that. Speaking of £60 saws......... I recently bought one of these as a replacement head for my pole saws...

How much better is a more expensive pruning saw?

I use one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GHDMV4M I find it cuts really well, the hook on the end is useful for dragging out brambles etc and stops the blade coming out of the cut as you saw so you can use the entire blade length on each stroke without fear. And you can stick it on the...

Suffocating in the Garden - Can my lawn be saved?

I don't know where you are, but here in the South East it is not really the best weather at the moment to be doing any of those things. Your best course of action may be to just leave it for a while. Looking at the pictures, I'd probably dig it over and turf it. You'll get a faster result that...

    Interest rates up

If that's true how does it relate to the very first graph in motorbiking's second link which shows the trend going the other way and household income increasing? Inflation?

Interesting "Fake News" targetted ads by "vote leave" campaign

I did. I posted a selective quote from a story in the hope that it would be assumed to apply to all of them and would be seen to be much more than it actually is ....... a standard remainer propaganda tactic I believe.
