    It’s about 500mm from the ceiling on a wall there is nothing around it now as was partly behind a kitchen cupboard which have now all been removed.The lighting circuit has no earth so all fittings are plastic. My electrician is coming out this week to have a look and check if live and make it safe.

    So moved into a house about 60 years old and the separate upstairs toilet has a normal wall light switch should this be changed to a ceiling cord pull one? Like what is in bathrooms?

    Update so having some additional work done and so getting all the issues fixed while he is is and he is also going to check the work inside the consumer unit. It’s frustrating that another “qualified” NAPIT registered electrician can continue to practice work that does not conform to current regs.

    Apparently also has not upgraded the earth cable to 16mm. So what is the correct course of action do I complain to NAPIT who he is registered with?

    Electricity Meter

    Moving into a house soon and wanted to ask a question if the electricity meter is a pre payment one first before I look silly and ask for them to ensure the key is available, as I have never seen or used one. Or is is just a normal meter and not a pre payment one. The gas is just a normal meter.
