Fit a wardrobe rail in a large cupboard w/ plasterboard wall

Fairly simple. There's a large cupboard with a brick back and one brick side. The other side is plasterboard and I can't puncture this side. No need for me to explain why. That rules out screws, nails, and other things that make holes. I want to fit a wardrobe rail between the two walls...

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

I agree that a piece of wood between the washing machine and worktop is not the sort of answer you expect on a DIY forum. Especially one called "DIYnot".

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

Good thinking David! I might do just that. Or I could even use two steel legs to hold the worktop up, since the fridge will obscure the 'end' of the row from view. I'll have a think. Thanks again.

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

A good tip David. Next time ;-) What I might do is use a cam & dowel method where the steel dowels are screwed into the floor between the tiles. Does anyone know if Rawl plus would suffice for that? Thanks

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

Well I wasn't really thinking of hinging it. It's only really there to hold the worktop up. Not a bad idea though. On the other side of this end panel is the fridge. I'm open to any other ideas about how best to do this. I may use some large steel brackets to attach it to the wall. Thanks

How do you fit an end panel by a washing machine?

Hi all My washing machine is the last thing on one wall, at the end of a row of cabinets. The worktop will cover all of them, and float over the washing machine. I want to put an end panel in after the washing machine to support the worktop, but I'm not sure how best to do this. I'd like a...

Recommendations for a good Forstner bit (15mm)?

Hi I got one of these: http://www.axminster.co.uk/festool-festool-centrotec-forstner-bits-prod844594/ ..and it arrived already! It has a hex shank. Can I put it in a regular drill? If so, which part of the shaft should I clamp? The wide bit or the narrow bit between hat and the hex...

    Just cutting wood

I have a circular saw - the handheld type - and soon I will have some wood to cut. How can I make sure I cut straight? I don't have a workshop or anything and not much space except out back. What should I get to get the job done? Thanks

Recommendations for a good Forstner bit (15mm)?

Thanks that's really helpful. That seems a good store too. I think I'll pick up some stuff :-)

Recommendations for a good Forstner bit (15mm)?

Can anyone recommend a good 15mm Forstner bit? I've seen some in ScrewFix - some with bad reviews, some with average. I want something that can cut a few dozen holes in hardwood (Wallnut, Oak, Ash) without noticeable deterioration. It's to cut holes for Cam & Dowel fittings. Seems to be the...

Effect of sink cut-out on strength wooden worktop?

Anyone else got any thoughts on this? I think I'll have to put rails in

Effect of sink cut-out on strength wooden worktop?

But with the drainer side over the washing machine, with no cabinet to support it, will that still work? The order of things is End Panel, Washer, Sink Cabinet, and the the sink would span the washer and sink cabinet. Is that ok? I think it'll break. Thanks

Effect of sink cut-out on strength wooden worktop?

Ah ok. That makes sense. What about when it's in place? The weight of the sink will be on the thin sections. Thanks again

Effect of sink cut-out on strength wooden worktop?

I've asked everywhere I can think of, and I still haven't got a straight answer on this, so I thought 'd ask here :-) I will have a solid wooden worktop, into which I plan to fit an Abode Tydal sink (single bowl). The sink requires a large cut-out, coming very close to the front and rear...

Very long washing machine inlet and outlet pipes?

Hi all Can anyone help me to source a very long washing machine inlet and outlet pipe in the UK? I just want the washer on the opposite wall to the plumbing and don't fancy ripping out the whole kitchen in order to put pipes in, so flexible pipes under the cabinets seems like a good plan. I'd...

    washing m/c in Bathroom

This is a good topic so I'd like to continue it rather than start a new thread. I am right in thinking that if you wire a washing machine into the wall, rather than having a plug and socket, then you're ok to put it in the bathroom as it is the socket location which is regulated? Thanks

Did I just ruin my new carpet? :-(

Hi Thanks for replying. It's a mostly polyester carpet, entirely synthetic. Medium domestic. The casters appear to be clean. Only one of the casters left a track and only when pushed in one direction though (it did a 3 point turn). I have vacuumed and washed the area, although washing...

Did I just ruin my new carpet? :-(

Yesterday I got a new carpet put in, and it looked great. Today I brought the sofa back in and now there's a dark line which traces the path of one of the wheels. I thought that the tufts had just been pushed up but after half an hour of cleaning the line remains and the turfs all seem to be...

Device like an apple corer but for nails?

Hi all Following the leads that were posted I came across hole cutters for tiles. They are an abrasive ring with a hollow area in the middle, and only around £2. I'm not sure if this method of cutting is suitable for Pine though? I thought it might burn. No, unfortunately I can't knock...
