    Installing an induction hob

Thanks for all these many replies so far. Being cautious not to invalidate the warranty, my concern has been whether the the unit's flanging above the line of the worktop has sufficient strength to support the combined weight of the unit's under-chassis and heavy cast iron, fully laden...

    Installing an induction hob

I'm about to install a Neff T44T43N0 induction hob. As the worktop is granite, preventing the retaining clips to be fixed by screwing into the worktop aperture edge, they need to be fixed to this edge with a temperature resistant adhesive. The granite fitting company has stressed the need to...

    Installing fitted oven

Thanks wingcoax..that's my understanding; a 45A cooker switch has a 3mm gap on both points when in the 'off' position, preventing any arching of current.

    Installing fitted oven

This sentence forms part of the 'Connecting the appliance to the power supply' section. This manly covers safety part 1 requiring an earth + the power cord type (H05 V V-F or higher). The comment before the 'contact protection' sentence reads: 'In the installation, there must be an all...

    Installing fitted oven

Grateful for a little more clarification. The instructions for wiring the oven make the following observation: 'Contact protection must be ensured by the method of installation' Am I right in thinking this is reference to the need for my planned 32A MCB and 45A cooker switch :?:

    Installing fitted oven

Many thanks for your swift reply EFLImpudence A separate earth terminal for connecting to a metal housing makes a lot of sense. I should have mentioned that a 45A cooker connecting switch is positioned on the wall alongside the housing with the 6mm cable then running down inside a dry...

    Installing fitted oven

In addition to my Neff U15M62 double oven having an earth stud within the 3 stud terminal box, there's also a large earthing symbol shown on the top casing of the oven with some sort of snap-in lug at its side. Beyond reference to a qualified person, there's nothing in the installation...

Space problem fitting a sink trap

Thanks Ticky T: however, I'm confused. My understanding of the regs is that the 75mm trap depth is specified to prevent the water being drawn out by wc flushing within the stack, and that the very flat bottle trap is only permitted where there is an air break prior to entering the soil pipe. :?

Space problem fitting a sink trap

I've a 'space' problem fitting a trap to a 2 bowl sink. I want to run the waste into a stack pipe situated in my garage, the floor of which is some 15 inches higher than the kitchen floor. As a result, I only have a gap of some 6 inches from the underside of the sink waste/overflow fitting to...

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

Many thanks for your patience and guidance. At the least, I now have an idea of the alternatives the electrician is likely to propose and can plan other kitchen issues around these.

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

I'm slowly getting there...I think. The main issue is the insulation!! If the 10mm won't pull through. I'm now OK with cutting into the plasterboard and removing the immediate insulation, I can replace the 6mm with 10mm for the hob. Would it then be OK to connect this 10mm to 6 mm in the...

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

It's a Series 5 Neff T44T43N0GB with electronic touch controls, LED display for each cook zone and a FlexInduction panel; a rectangular large scale zone for bigger cooking.

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

The appliances will be on separate 6mm radials, so does 'diversity' apply as each will be run through separate MCBs from CU's RCB side. The one clue I received from neff technical team was that the Oven is rated to pull 25A max. Does this change matters on the cooker or will 6mm through...

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

All the instructions state is that it should be connected by a 'qualified person'. I contacted neff, but they only say the same. There are no specs shown for the cable rating or the fusing. The only clues are 7200w shown on a base sticker (along with the model references) and the label on the...

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

Thanks for both your advice so far. Nothing in the fitting instructions for the hob to guide me I'm afraid. The only indicator is on the back plate that shows 7200w. So, the oven seems OK on 20A mcb. If I also fit another 20A mcb on the 6mm hob radial, how will I know if that's safe? :?

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

If I use 32 amp MCB with 6 mm in this situation, what's the worst that can happen? Is it that any increase in the cable temp will 'blow' the MCB or could it be more serious? The thought of having to run fresh cable is daunting as all surface decoration is complete.

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

Thanks for this....you've raised a key aspect. To reduce heat lost in the kitchen, I've dry lined the walls and run the cable behind and filled the 25mm gap with foil-faced 'kingsmill' board. Also, I've placed mineral wool insulation in the ceiling void where some of the cable also runs...

Wiring an induction hob & electric oven

I'm planning to fit a 7.5KW induction hob which I would like to connect to a radial 6mm T&E cable through a 40 amp mcb at the consumer unit. Is this OK or should I reduce the mcb to 32 amp? Also, the 5.7KW double oven I want to install has the possibility to be connected to a separate radial...
