Help required with materials for non permanent underdesk mount

Sorry for long title. I am trying to mount a flight simulation yoke under the desk as on the desk is to high up. My idea is 2 frames, one permanently fixed (low profile) to the underside of the desk, the second frame would removable when not in use. I have looked into B&Q specials with wood...

I currently have the same issue as you, only my microbore is 3/8ths, I increased to 15mm, Radiator still doesn't reach ****ing temperature, even with all rads off. FML

    Moving a gas meter

Thats right, I am the culprit for all of BG meter fitters failures, get off your high horse. Just cause my advice contradicted yours, you decide to throw your toys out the pram. You do get the reporting fitter phone number. I hope you called him/her up because we do get 1" x 3/4"

    Moving a gas meter

I see far too many arguments between grid and DNO about who bares responsibility when the service/meters are too close to each other. Not saying you didn't do that stuff. It just doesn't seem to happen anymore.

    Moving a gas meter

The transporter wont move it for you. If anything its your pipe thats in the way of the cutout.

    Moving a gas meter

It would have to go above so it doesn't run around the service cable on the electric. For me it would be better to run it along the edge of the meterboard, staying just outside the minimum distances.

    Moving a gas meter

If you're with BG then will move it FOC upto 2m as long as its within the same space and for vanity purposes. Some other suppliers do charge for the work, I imagine that BG will charge at some point in the future too.

    Moving a gas meter

Don't pay an RGI to do it, your supplier should move it for you, BG will move it for free. Personally, I prefer meters attached the wall, so i'd be inclined to mount it on the wall with a hard pipe inlet instead of the flexible one you have now. The outlet pipe work would need to be routed up...

    Smart meter advice.

not yet, BG have only just in November I think, gained approval from Ofgem for Time of use tariffs.

    Smart meter advice.

Its unlikely that the monitor will work due to the distance. The gas may work depending on the distance between the electric meter and gas meter. Worst case scenario, no smart meter, middle ground is just the electric meter, best case is that you get both gas and electric smart meters

    Meter condtion

Why what? Ahh I see what you're saying, apparently a failed dual smart meter installation costs the business £150

    Meter condtion

As we are salaried we don't get that choice!

    Meter condtion

EON will only move the meter and not the cutout. Charging you £65 is a joke, BG will move the meter 2 meters away as long as its through no walls or cupboards for free. I anticipate that EON wont move the meter through walls either. At very least you should get EON round to tidy up the tails...

    Meter condtion

Just contact your DNO and inform them of the exposed live conductors at the meter. They will either send an engineer to recitify or tell you to contact your supplier to fix. To move the electric meter, the cutout (black bit under the meter) is what needs moving and what will probably cost you...

    Cable Cutter Recommendation

The pair I use currently cut all the cable sizes I need, 25/16/10mm with ease, I don't think the company make them anymore

    Cable Cutter Recommendation

I was hoping that some of you electricians could recommend a decent pair of cable cutters. My needs are, single handed operation and can cut upto 25mm cable. I currently run with a Will Tools pair, which I can't find anywhere otherwise I would have bought them. Thanks Jack

    Intermittent faint gas smell

There is a small chance that you're mistaking the smell for something else. Other than that, call 0800111999, get them out to check. What might be a small smell for you might be a large leak somewhere else in the property. If you're still alive, good luck!

Gas Meter - this looks dangerous, who's responsible?

Would have been better screwing it to the wall it was on, assuming it was just above the hole. you may want to ring Npower back and find out if their policy to leave meters capped off once they have moved them less than 1m. At BG, when a meter is moved, we reconnect the supply so you can...

Gas Meter - this looks dangerous, who's responsible?

this is true, Kitchen fitters are bastards for this. OP your meter can not be moved to the left as it would block the ECV. It is the responsibility of your supplier to maintain the metering equipment. As has been said, your meter is in an AR situation and should be rectified. Rather than...
