    I presume this is just plasterboard? it is soft and chalky. It fell apart when the wall got damp and i removed wallpaper covering it. Can i just polyfilla over the holes or do i need something else?

    so I have seen youtube videos of people using multimeters to test between live and neutral on a socket. then i read this: so is he just talking about a short in an appliance? what happens if you test between live and neutral say on a mains cable or on the consumer unit?

    so there is a single large rcd swirch on my cobnsumer unit. does this protect all the circuits from the consumer unit to the house? so it would be pointless to use extra RCD protection say in the form of a circuit breaker on a socket?

    yes all protocols can be hacked. wpa being the most difficult. but even someone with the skills necessary isnt gonna bother with the effort unless you had sex with his girlfriend. people just cruise for unprotected hubs because there's plenty about.

    yes i think the two wires are usually connected to the boiler to shut it down if the pump fails. I thought it would be preferable to use a simple sound alarm though as it would be clear what was at fault and not affect the boiler. the float switch is not connected to the rest of the circuit...

    spur off an fcu?

    another related question is if you are running a spur from a socket or wiirng two appliances to an fcu presumably you have to run two parrallel cables into each termination hole. is this correct?

    well yeah thats what i thought but the boiler engineer said i couldnt run the pump from the same FCU as the boiler although i didnt askk him why. didnt know if it was something specific to boiler regulations
