    Strange looking old Stopcock

It does seem to be copper pipes at both sides of the stopcock. I need to replace the whole thing as it sticks out of the plasterboard wall, so the new fitting needs to be rotated 90 degrees to stay within the wall. It seems this is now beyond my capabilities as it's not a simple swap, so will...

    Strange looking old Stopcock

In my previous house I managed to replace a seized stopcock, one like the below: https://www.toolstation.com/stopcock/p71816 So when we moved into our current place, I thought nothing of doing the same as it's handle is missing and threads damaged! However I haven't seen this type before and...

    Boiler pressure gauge leaking!

Ok so I successfully changed the pressure gauge, but now I have a new problem!! There is now a leak from the automatic air vent, unbelievable. Please see pic of where it is coming out from. It is leaking from the small cap where the air should escape from, it's a steady drip. It is dripping...

Hi, My baxi neta tec ga boiler is dripping water from the pressure gauge. It started by steaming up but now it drips steadily, more so when boiler is on. I'm assuming a new gauge is needed but I'm no expert. I've found the replacement part online for around £25. Is it easy to replace? Just...

    Power Flush Hire

I am going to hire a power flush machine, probably for the weekend in case I can't get it done in 1 day. Which of these is better (if any) http://hire.travisperkins.co.uk/hire/productDetails.asp?levelID=56&i=13&img=8698 http://www.hss.com/g/51610/Central-Heating-Flusher.html Or are...

Air Separator clogged and nearby pipes are magnetic

The system is from the early nineties, over 20 years old, so I think it's age more than anything. Also at some point it had a cardboard lid on the tank, which ended up in the system, I cleared it out last year wth fernox but now the above problems here.

Air Separator clogged and nearby pipes are magnetic

Hi, I wouldn't quote the price to a tradesman. Just wanted a ball park figure to give me an idea. Would it take more than one hour? We plan on moving in a year or 2 so just want to keep it running for now.

Air Separator clogged and nearby pipes are magnetic

The 22mm pipe between the air separator and pump is about 60cm long. If I get a new section of pipe and a new air separator, how much should I be charged to replace these parts? I can also drain down the system before the plumber arrives to save time.

Air Separator clogged and nearby pipes are magnetic

Hi, My heating / hot water system keeps pumping over. The hot water goes up the open vent pipe and into the small tank above my hot water cylinder. It seems that the problem is around the air separator, it gurgles and makes a lot of noise before sending the water straight up the vent...

What thermostat can I get to replace this ancient one?

I have gone with a Honeywell CM707 as I couldn't turn down a bargain price of £10 ! I will look at cm907 if and when we upgrade our boiler. Now I just have to worry about installing it. I take it that it doesn't use the neutral wire. Instead of terminating this in a block to make safe, can...

What thermostat can I get to replace this ancient one?

Hi I have this really old honeywell thermostat and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work. Even if I set it quite low the boiler never turns off, if I turn it completely off the boiler does turn off. See Pic below, it says 4200 3879-001 on inside cover. It has 3 wires connected to pins 1, 2, and...

Water Coming out of vent pipe

Hi I know DS40 has been advised but 'may cause leaks' is just something I cannot afford to risk. Can you please advise on the method I have proposed or maybe suggest another, I'm aware fernox f3 may not (or probably won't) work but I would still like to give it a go as I have had some...
