What are these metal washers called please?

Good question, and I've no idea to be honest I guess they must serve a locking purpose, but they are so thin / fine that I wonder how.

I have all 24 bolts thanks. It's just the washers that were lost.

What are these metal washers called please?

Hello I've been struggling to find large thin metal washers like the one in the photo. (I lost the originals for a Keter plastic shed that was taken down, and Keter customer service are unresponsive after 3 months) Does anyone know what they are called please? I've looked up serrated /...

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Lordy a manual tool won't do the job - I was just reading that we'll need an electric auger, as the ground here is so hard and compacted, but there's large stones underground. A poster on a forum said that he went flying when one he'd hired hit a rock, causing the bore end to jam, and the...

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Ok, I'll look into one of those then. Thanks. Just looked online and there are manual ones to buy at around £20, or motored ones to hire. Which did you mean? The hire ones are around £85, and I could do without even more expense if the manual ones will do the job. Thanks again!

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

The hanging sets weigh a ton! The large main bars / bands that hold the gates are very substantial which is good. The gates were a great price, which made up for the expense of the sets. I looked at other gates in this style and they were poor in comparison, though would have been far lighter...

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

I understand not wanting the ground disturbed, but I thought the bigger the hole / more concrete the better? :-)

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Thanks! I'd thought about a wheel funny enough. I've seen them online and eBay with an adjustable tensioned spring, so that the wheel can go over uneven surfaces. They take up to 54 kilo weight. My gates will open out onto a quite large-stoned lane, so ill see if it's feasible. I may have to dig...

Thanks! I think the set I posted is complete though. At least I hope it is, as the two kits weren't cheap :-(

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Yes that's right, they are for the end of my driveway. I'm going to ask if they can tie the posts into the wall as back up, but they may not be able to drill through the huge boulders! It's worth a try though :-)

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

I daren't risk them shifting as kiddies will walk very close by them, plus a neighbours car and van will drive literally two foot away from them too.

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

I don't mind sounding a dumbo, but could you kind people help with what I'd need from Wickes or B&Q for making the right mix please? It's all a bit over my head you see ;) https://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Building-Materials/Cement+Aggregates/c/1000176...

Thank you everyone for the replies :D I shall pass it all onto the two poor souls who will be doing the work (friends of family)

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Hi If I can get away with another 7" post the other side, I'll get one. Trouble is, we've got to chip down the corners of two garden walls to put the posts against, and they are made from huge boulder rocks (built turn of the century) The wall edges up to a service lane, and I can't have the...

Best concrete for VERY heavy large wooden gates?

Hi One gate is 6ft, and the other 9ft and boy are they heavy! I've been advised to use a 6x6" post for the smaller and 7x7" for the larger. I have researched how to best sink the posts with ballast etc, but I now need to know about the concrete mix. I've read 'Postcrete' isn't very good for...

Thanks. I think I'll stick to oil based, as I'm not a proficient painter as it is :D
