    MDF Plinth question

Something like Soudal Fix All? Looks like it fits the bill.

    MDF Plinth question

Thanks for the quick replies. @Wayners. I've seen the plastic floor trim you mention. Could still see moisture getting inside that stuff. Might do both methods as a belt and braces approach. Thanks again.

    MDF Plinth question

Just removed the plinths from a recently fitted kitchen. Under the shiny plastic exterior, they're MDF construction. They've been cut on one edge to suit the uneven floor. What's the best way of treating them to prevent damage from moisture ingress? TIA

Should I be worried? "Sockitz" plastic guards.

Aye, they're the reusable type. Fitted them when I removed all the tiles. Thought I'd be doing the plasterer a favour. Seems like I wasted my time. Not to worry. Everybody has a different way of doing things. As said above, maybe it's a solution looking for a problem.

Should I be worried? "Sockitz" plastic guards.

Work began on new kitchen today. This is how the electricians removed some of the sockitz I'd fitted. DOH!

    B&M Laminate

Anyone have any experience with the laminate flooring sold in B&M? Is it any good, or is it best avoided. Not needing a lot as it's for a conservatory. Willing to pay a bit extra for decent brand if necessary. TIA

    Quick question

Yeah, painting it white. I had a 10 litre tub of matt white the other day. It's now mysteriously gone missing. I'm just wanting to get one coat on it all as a bit protection cos I'm going to be busy for the next few weeks and didn't fancy leaving it bare. Cheers for your reply.

    Quick question

Can I use Leyland Trade Super Leytex High Opacity Matt emulsion as a first coat on lining paper or is it just suitable for new and bare plaster? TIA

    Armstead Quick Dry Satin

So, I decided to go with Dulux Trade Quick Dry Satinwood. Bad idea. Should have paid the extra and stuck with the Armstead. Ah well. Every day is a school day.

    Armstead Quick Dry Satin

Screwfix have stopped selling it and Dulux Decorator centre wants stupid money for a 2.5 ltr tin. Can anyone suggest a similar, decent replacement that won't require a bank loan to purchase? TIA.

Yeah. I'll duct tape paint brushes to their phones. Found an old post on here that advised sanding prior to applying Bin 123. Knew I wouldn't have sanded if I didn't have to.

Hi johnny2007 That was the plan due to the presence of kids. Have to give them notice to vacate their rooms when planning any work but usually end up turning a hosepipe on them. I'm replacing hinges as well so doors need to come off.

I've used that Bin 123 previously. Still sanded though. Just checked the tin and it says that it can be applied without sanding. Confused now.

I've got one of those multi tools somewhere. I'll have a go with that. Cheers.

Not the reply I was looking for. *sob* Five panelled doors, architraves, a rake of skirting, both sides of the stairs, was hoping there'd be a shortcut. Ah well, better stock up on Norwegian formula hand cream. Thanks for the reply.

    Advice needed.

Hi all. Looking to paint over oil based gloss with water based. BUT, I don't think I can face all the sanding involved. Is there any products/methods you guys can suggest that would help me eliminate the sanding stage? TIA

    Outside light question

Cheers for the replies. I was aware of the stand alone PIR's but was looking for other options. I've had another think and I'm not sure my idea would work. Since these lights have a length of pre-wired cable I thought that I could take a live feed from the neutral in a JB to another light. My...

    Outside light question

Existing 500w PIR floodlight has packed up and needs to be replaced, 8w/15w PIR would do. Would also like to install another 8w floodlight without PIR that comes on at the same time. Could this be done? I was thinking maybe picking up power from the neutral core of the first light? Not a spark...
