Generally it's a bad contact or soldered joint on one of the 5 pin relays on the control board. Remove and inspect it, re-soldering as necessary. That should do the trick. New boards are about a hundred nicker.

    Noisy pipes

Noise is most likely to be tight pipes across joists or under floorboards. Lift boards, relieve tightness, wrap in felt lagging across joists. Carefully re-lay boards. Or it could be a dripping pipe!!! MM

Because either the pilot flame isn't impinging on the sensing electrode, or the PCB has a fault. Having the cover off will possibly distort the pilot flame so that it burns where the electrode is..... ...in which case it can't be the PCB... MM

    Radiators not all heating up

Often the air locks are in the radiator return pipework. Suggest you remove the new towel warmer, attatch short hose to each pipe tail in turn, and open valve, collecting water discharged into a bucket - air entrained will be obvious. Next try the air bleed above the cylinder again. If the...

    ICOS BOILER...HELP!

When you've found the fused connection unit (spur) and before you change the 3A fuse, turn the boiler off at the switch on the front panel. This way you'll eliminate the boiler from the equation if the new fuse blows. If the rest of the system powers-up OK then turn on the boiler. Chances are...

Ah, the kitchen friendly (but not gas fitter friendly) boiler... If it's still sparking after the pilot is lit then the pcb is not "seeing" the pilot flame. This indicates the need for a new PCB, despite the fact that you've just had one. I'm intrigued to know what the reasoning was behind...

    Vaillant turboMax Plus 828 problem

Greetings all, haven't been here for a long time  A customer had a problem with DHW going hot-cold-hot, etc. Also complained of F23 fault code regularly. The fault log confirmed this. After descaling the DHW H/E I found the gas valve was not modulating properly, just oscillating...

New Ideal Combi Boiler from eBay - Warranty Question?

OP, I've just had a look on Ebay and there's a seller hawking a "brand new" Isar m30100 combi - they haven't been made for over 5 years. Caveat emptor, as you've already been told. Don't have a problem with the Icos, prefer not to fit combis if I can help it, and I don't fit Geeeerman...

    Rainwater leaking into vertical flue......

At the risk of also being called arrogant I shall ask you, is it a Suprima HE? These discharge water into the flue, which condenses and runs back towards the boiler (It's designed that way) What may be happening is the flexible condensate connection may be leaking internally, giving rise to the...

    Central heating problem

If the call is there for CH, 'C' comes up on the display, the boiler fires but the rads dont get hot do the following 1. Check the pump is running - it should be because HW is working. 2. Feel the CH flow pipe (LHS 22mm pipe), is that hot, but only for the first couple of feet? If it is then...

    Hot water cylinder temperature

If you've got a thermocouple and a proper temperature gauge why not take a profile of the temperatures from top to bottom, then you'll be in a better position to judge the scaling severity. If it really is scaled badly the quantity of hot water will be reduced to less than a bathfull, and the...

Will a unvented cylinder work in conjunction with a combi?

If you want a high grade cylinder try Megaflow or Santon Premier plus. I believe a solar option is available for the Megaflow. I see from the postings you have already upgraded the cold mains - good: too low a dynamic pressure is the cause of many disappointments with unvented systems. Keep...

Adding A radiator....Using the flow circuit only

Sounds like you want to run two radiators (emitters) in series. Because the system is now pumped this will work, with the second emitter (towel warmer) being cooler than the rad above (?) it. If I have the mental picture right it would look better with the towel rad higher, n'est pas? Beauty...

Loud clunk when HW or CH valve closes

Your symptoms suggest valve(s) installed the wrong way around, though why it should start making noises now rather than from the start has still to be deduced. ACL Drayton valves have a flap type valve plug, and the direction of flow is clearly marked on the body. So how do you tell which...

Potterton Profile 60E not firing up.

Sounds like you're describing the White-Rogers valve, if you really want to confirm it has failed turn off the gas, take the black connector block off, and measure the resistance directly across each of the solenoids, a reading of a few kohm is normal, the pilot one will show >1 Mohm if it's...

    Ideal Icos HE 3080

Nope, neither the original m3080 nor the later HE24 (and derivatives) had or have any sort of pump overrun. In my opinion this was an oversight, but I suppose they thought the low operating temperatures would make this unneccessary. As above, if it doesn't have the pump overrun, you won't...

    Lack of action from HSE/CORGI

I think that's part of the problem too, CORGI won't take up the case and give this bozo a rocket up the jacksie, it's left to the customer to chase around, and do I get paid for the grief?...what do you think!!?

    Lack of action from HSE/CORGI

The last few weeks have opened my eyes to the ineptitude and lack of enthusiasm for catching the cowboys at CORGI and the HSE; to elaborate... Called to new customer's house to investigate lack of heating or hot water function from new boiler installation (regular system boiler 24kW)...
