Combi / shower overheat / trip?

Hi there. Our family have a number of showers in the morning, and I'm finding that after a 20 minute run of our shower (Aqualisa Quartz Digital), when we restart the shower for the next cycle, it starts fine, then runs super cold for a minute or more before re-stabilising. I guess that means...

Looking for scrap aqualisa digital processor.

Really? Do you mean because people don't scrap them when they break down? Seems strange if replacement parts aren't available. There are two of these per shower unit . One for hot, one for cold. I figured if one breaks, like mine, most people would have to scrap the whole unit. Are there...

Looking for scrap aqualisa digital processor.

I'm looking for a replacement part for my aqualisa shower but aqualisa will only sell me a complete processor unit. The part I'm looking for is inside the intake valves. It's the actuator "spider" which goes between the motor and the valve plate. I assume all quartz digital models (old &new...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

Okay, Had architect and SE here this morning. They want me to insert additional rafters in-between the existing rafters so they are at 300 ctrs. More accurage measurement showed that they were 170x45@600, which is what was in the "construction details" on the architects plan. The SE drawing...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

Noseall. The joiner apparently spoke with the BCO about laying the hip rafter on the old roof, rather than removing the old roof completely and building from scratch, and the BCO said that'd be fine. The decision was made by the joiner. First I saw of it was when the timber arrived. I...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

Thanks Ronnie. Looks like the vertical ties bear down onto a double 50x200 joist. The span of this is approx 5.5m (excuse me mixing my metric and imperial!). They nail onto the SIDE of the rafter though, but I guess theres nothing stopping me putting in other vertical ties which brace directly...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

The ridge is slightly nearest the back of the house than the front so the longest span is at to the front. 45 degree pitch with what looks like about 13-14ft horizontally from ridge to front wall. Can't actually see where rafters bear on wallhead as there is an inlay on the front. (ie...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

Okay, I've just had a proper look in the loft, and it seems the rafters we have actually in place are measuring 45x160@600ctrs, where the drawings says 50x200@400ctrs.

Waiting for letter to come through from inspector showing exactly what he wants.

    Is it really so expensive?

I recently replaced my cast iron (six-inch) gutters with deep flow plastic, and adapters proved impossible to find. Instead, I simply terminated my neighbours cast guttering with a plastic panel cut to fit inside it - cleaned up with wire-wheel and bonded in place with strong PU adhesive...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

TBH I reallly don't think the SE paid all that much attention to my build. I had an existing hip which was moved "outwards" by approx 5.5m. SE had apparently "designed" the old roof to be completely removed (not easy on a end-terrace - while we are still living inside), and a new roof...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

When I submitted the plans to the BCO this time last year, I asked him which stages he would like to come down and see the progress. He told me just to give him a call when everything is finished - hence why just spotting build just now. Maybe I should have insisted? When you say 600...

Building inspection - roof structure not as per plan

Inspector says there should be a double hip rafter, though i couldn't make that out on the plans - guess the joiner couldn't either. Length of the hip is approx 7m, so has been scarfed near the bottom end. I'm certain the SE has massively overspecified the structure, as the joiner did say...
