    German & Dutch Domestic Installations

I'm doing a little project in the UK which requires a house to be wired using three typical European wiring methods, UK, German & Dutch. Although I've found quite a lot of information on the German standards and methods I'm struggling to find any information on the Dutch wiring standards. So...

Part P notification from April 2013

I agree a while ago it was a lot easier to get a grading card though industry assessment based on training and experience. However, the system was really badly abused so now to get an electricians grading card it's either as a formal apprentice or self trained with NVQ level 3 - not the end of...

Part P notification from April 2013

There is already such a body. They are called the JIB. They grade all registered electricians based on their training, formal qualifications and sometimes industry assessment. It's not a perfect system but it's better than most other trades.

    Earth Wire Too Short!

Unless you already own a ratchet crimper and the correct crimps just use terminal block as per your original post. You also don't need to cover the joint in tape just make sure the green and yellow sleeving covers the exposed copper.

New Consumer Units NICEIC-What does it mean

As far as I'm aware electricians and other trades can pretty well do what they like as long as it's in their T&C's. I can't see anything wrong with holding onto a test certificate until payment has been received. For PIR's we don't even attend site until the payment has been made/cleared.

    pricing

That's OK for a few weekend private jobs but not if you’re running a business. All materials that are bought and then sold on must be marked up otherwise it affects how your accounts look. For example, company X turns over £ 50k a year labour only with a gross profit of say 30% = 15k...

    x5 RCD test fail.

Did you question the NIC chap? Because there are so many up stream variables, technically, I can't see how it would make any difference. But if you're worried give the manufacturer a ring.

    What Could I Do Next?

I'm confused :? To get off the tools you will have to be a "manager" of some sort which will mean you will have to manage something/someone.

    What Could I Do Next?

In this day-an-age you’re unlikely to get a managerial post in the public sector without a degree of some sort, sadly, regardless of your experience/competence. What are your in house promotion prospects?

That's a shame  To find that in a cupboard you must work for a well established company???
