    Miele Dishwasher 640 Won't fill

I know. I've posted about a similar problem with my washing machine but they are on separate supplies and the washing machine one is a new fault and this one is very old fault (gave up). My Miele dishwasher won't fill. I've checked the usual suspects, filter on input valve, spray pump...

Help please Candy Washing machine door lock sensor

My Candy 514 will lock the door when I initiate a wash cycle but won't start. The door security light lights and the machine hums. I have tried pressing and slamming the door to no avail. To try some things again takes a while as there is a delayed unlock facility which I have to wait for...

They'll have no chance of tripping the downstairs circuit :D They're on the upstairs circuit. The kitchen only has room for a fridge freezer and washing machine. There is b****r all on the upstairs sockets. My laptop and the network port. Not big on atmospheric bedroom lighting! I...

PAT tester was an example. But, I still need an answer to the original question as I think the installation, as is, is flawed. The potential damage which may have already been caused is a secondary item. As I have not yet seen any house of mine's installation without faults I'm not...

Continuity, resistance back to the Consumer unit. Yes, I do have access to a PAT tester. Next door neighbour does electrical work for the council and has all the toys I don't have. I used to use a PAT tester for indiviual pieces of equipment years ago when no paperwork or courses were required.

Other underlying problems, such as? I've been going from socket to socket checking the wiring and mapping the cable route/connections and checking the earthing.

Only two wires into the MCB from two cables. Removing one switches off the kitchen and upstairs sockets. The other cable runs down the wall and powers the donstairs apart from the kitchen. Kitchen is definitely radial with visible end in one wall socket No socket yet found with ring...

I still haven't installed my kitchen yet as the electrics needed a bit of investigation. With my next door neighbours help (he's taller and more knowledgable) I found out that my house appears to have Two radial ccts: one for the upstairs sockets and kitchen & one for the downstairs each...

Kitchen wiring: Ring, spur & fused connections

Nope :D Just lots of these and a propensity for walking around in the dark! JohnD The cooker is a separate oven and hob. The hob takes up all the power available from the cooker cct and I have removed the socket on the cooker unit as well. Sorry for any confusion. Off to find...

Kitchen wiring: Ring, spur & fused connections

Thanks. I've never looked at the power for a kettle. Another thing I don't use very often. Most electrical goods in my house are between 10-400W Electric bill about £7 a month, just don't ask about the gas bill!

Kitchen wiring: Ring, spur & fused connections

A whole 4 sockets actually :P The answer I needed. Other people on this site have said that it was not needed for the wattage and could plug in the ring main (when I sort it), drawing 12A at 240V & 13A worst case supply. Good idea on the switches with unswitched sockets. Personally I'd...

Kitchen wiring: Ring, spur & fused connections

My kitchen is an old victorian one, units both sides access straight down the middle. I have a double socket on the window side and a double socket on the wall side. Also on the wall side is a switched fused spur for the combi-boiler and timer unit. The house has one 32A MCB sockets circuit...

    Installing an electric hob

Searched the site and found that taking it apart is probably a bad idea and like taking the head off a modern engine best left to the guys who do it every day. I think all the har work has been done. Just checking. Many thanks for your time and effort.

    Installing an electric hob

I could undo the bolts on the bottom and try to have a look at the wiring although the unit is only 18 months old and still under warranty. Another bit of the disclaimer wording in the manual says that 'The applience is type Y and this means that the input supply cable cannot be changed by...

    Installing an electric hob

I may have mislead you about the multi core. I mean multi strand. Look like standard sinlge phase 10mm2 The ratings plate has been stuck to the manual I think. It says 230/400 3N V (ac (no tilda)) 50Hz 7000W

    Installing an electric hob

Nope, says it is fitted with 6 x 1.5mm2 electrical cable made of silicone (I guess they really mean the sheath is silicone) The actual cable is as described except it looks like a UK 10mm2 with red and black multi cores. With BASEC and DONCASTER on the sheath I think maybe it has already...

    Installing an electric hob

I have the manual for my 7kW hob and it says that the fitted cable is suitable for a 220-230V, 2 phase connection. Neff hob type HSE-6RAG400 For any other connection refer to figure 5. But the booklet does not have any figures in it at all. I know about phases but not how to wire anything...
