    Metal Trunking Project

Been a while since I frequented these hallowed grounds.... I've bought 6 pendant fittings that I want to suspend from the substantial metalwork above my balcony (It's the structural floor of the upstairs balcony). I've also bought a length to 2"x2" metal trunking (not lighting trunking) and...

    Bright ideas for fixing basket?

Random one to come back to the board with (been away for a while and out of the industry now mostly, nice to see all the same faces on here!) but I am looking for a clever idea for fixing a length of 4" basket to the back of a desk: ___________________ |______________| |______________|...

    Large Power Cables

Declaration of Interest: This is a marketing question, pure and simple, but would really appreciate two pence worth from anybody willing to give it! How often do you get involved in SWA larger than 25mm²? Where do you tend to go for it? Is it normally a hassle to get hold of? Does it...

    M2 Consumer Units - Should I?

One of my favourite "good old days" experiences at CEF was when I was in a branch (not my own) for a meeting with a Proteus rep, as it was closer to home than the branch I worked at. While waiting on the counter to be shown to the meeting room, we were both looking around and the Proteus rep...

Not to start on Ban again, but, what's wrong with through crimps and a bit of heatshrink?

    Stripping meter tails

One would assume so, but i bet this is not how it goes Mind you, they'd be a lot more readable if they were written like that!

    Stripping meter tails

Seriously RF, do you have a bionic eye that you just download from at the end of each day? You have a picture for everything! But what's your point? You have seen them? You always use them? You are only allowed to use them? Share your infinite wisdom as well as your infinite images. :D

    Stripping meter tails

Alright, Ban, you are playing nicer so I will too (and I do genuinely appreciate the feedback! This is where you tell me you are on the board for the IET!) The guy knows that he has used the right colours, but is then caught off guard? The thing is, like the distance between service head...

    Stripping meter tails

Not according to 17th! Same point as we started on: Can't get a copy of that one at the minute.

    Stripping meter tails

Well that's far more in the spirit my post intended. I can appreciate that there is an element of chinese whispers, and the story could have changed a long way from "Errr could you please swap the brown and blue in the incomer before I connect this up! " All I shall do is go back...

    Stripping meter tails

My mum always said "If you don't have anything nice to say, ****** !" I can appreciate your label of nonsense, but this really did happen and thus there is truth here too. Well yes, they can, but not everyone is in a position to argue, or knowledgable enough to be sure, or confident enough...

    Stripping meter tails

Oh Ban, you always come across as so accusatory! I have been informed by my customer, a wholesaler, that their customer, an electrician, has been asked to change tails by the local board because they are grey/blue and grey/brown. And in case you hadn't guessed, we are a supplier of these...

    Stripping meter tails

I hope all the right people are still watching this one so I'll tag onto this one too. Just been informed of a fail due to tails having a grey outer sheath. Apparently the outer should be the same colour as the inner, so Blue/Blue and Brown/Brown. I am looking in the 17th edition as we...

    Damp Concrete Floor

I know, I know, this has been covered a million times in here and I have just read them all, but I would be really grateful if you could help me out with some specific answers. Just taken up the carpet in the ground floor lounge and discovered what I would call very damp concrete. The rest of...

Crabtree Switched FCU has no socket outlet ?

Flex outlet, not socket outlet! Socket outlet is not something you will ever find on an FCU. Plastic FCUs normally have a knockout for flex, metal ones obviously cant have this option, so you will find that you can by them with and without flex outlet.

Only upscaling and HD dvd players I believe

    Hiding Plasma TV cables...

Loads of alternatives, and I don't wanna be turning this into an AV forum, but: 1. LCD better than plasma (IMHO, let's not start a war people) at nearly all sizes 2. DVD with scart output no good, needs component or HDMI if possible, which would make it an upscaling DVD which makes your...

    Hiding Plasma TV cables...

IDEA:  Don't use scart! Its rubbish! What sources are you feeding your (probably expensive and deserving of better signal) plasma tv?
