    Supply for boiler / fridge-freezer?

Thank you Flameport. So, the 64,000euro question: Should I put the FF on the boiler circuit, or leave it on the kitchen circuit? What would you do? :?

    Supply for boiler / fridge-freezer?

I understand the reasons for keeping freezers off of RCD. But my concern here is that a fault on the FF could take the boiler out - that's why I asked how often do FFs go belly-up with earth faults. I do work away so I don't want to return to burst pipes in the middle of winter. Loosing a...

    Supply for boiler / fridge-freezer?

I have given up on the idea of a nonRCD circuit for logistical reasons, so I'm just going to go for an additional RCBO radial. The question is whether I should put just the boiler on this, or the FF as well? The boiler is my main concern, and I don't have an enormous freezer full of prime...

    Outstanding supplementary bonding!

Thanks Dingbat, however rest assured that I know exactly what bonding is, and why it's needed. What I am unsure of is if I will need to main bond my water after renovation, as they'll be a metallic incomer but a completely Hep2O installation. I would say "no, of course not", but I've...

    Waste pipe plumbing

Just done some reading up on these things (gooooooooogle's great int it!) and I guess I'm stuck with it. I should be able to move it, right? If I can move it in to the corner of the room I might be able to get away with just boxing in to the side of the cistern and not have to do it all the...

    Waste pipe plumbing

Thanks Neds. I should add that this is a flat - the soil stack for the block is outside on the wall and does go right up to the roof level. Do I still need this? Is it needed because there's a fair run of nearly level pipe to the main stack? I'm guessing the answer is 'yes', so I'm going...

    Waste pipe plumbing

Hi plumbers! Hopefully someone can give me some advice here. Basically, can I do away with this? This is behind the bog in my bathroom. As you can (hopefully) see, the waste pipe goes out to the right, underneath floor level, but there is this 'riser' coming upwards, with the bog plumbed...

    Outstanding supplementary bonding!

Just spotted this gem under my kitchen sink. Good job supp bonding's not needed anymore eh? On a more serious note, there's no main bonds to the water or gas mains either. I better get started on this renovation project soon....

    Installing a sub-main advice

I think you need to consider if your current supply can handle two separate properties. would to not be better to get the DNO to install a new supply to the 'new' property. This will then be completely separate with the tenants having their own meter on the property.

    Very Simple lighting question

Yes pal, that is correct. It doesn't matter which side of the terminal block the wires go in. Don't forget to mark the switched live with a bit of brown sleeving or tape. :)

    Shower from 24kW combi

Thanks guys, that's good to know. I'm used to electric showers, so I'm sure I'll be happy with a 24kW combi shower. :)

    TNS on overhead cables supply

Just curious about how common this is. I was visiting some friends who live right out in the sticks, there are about a dozen houses out in farmland yonder. An overhead single phase 11kV supply comes in, then it's phase (split phase actually, each house being on the opposite leg), neutral and...

    Shower from 24kW combi

Can I expect to get a decent shower from a 24kW combi boiler? (My water pressure is excellent, and I'd go for a thermostatic mixer.) I've heard people say you need at least a 28kW combi for a good shower, but 24kW is more than double the biggest electric showers available, so I don't see why...

    Condensing vs non-condensing combi

In a small property like mine (2 bed flat), what kind of differences in running costs would you see between a condensing and non-condensing combi boiler? Whilst I know condensing boilers are more efficient, is the extra expense worth it (does the extra efficiency worthwhile in a small...
